Steem Cameroon Best day Contest - 07-07-2024"
Greetings Steemians and friends of Steem Cameroon
Last Sunday was a very auspicious day for Hindus as it was car fastival celebrated everywhere in India.
So I visited Lord Jagannath temple of the locality in the morning and received the sprinkles of holy water.
In the evening I visited Kalighat Temple one of the Shaktipeeth with immense devotion of all Hindus attached to it. Not only locals but Hindus from throughout India come to pay their tribute.
The temple is as old as built late 18th century and undergone a major renovation in 1809.
Recently another renovation project has taken up by Reliance Group. They have totally recreated the 200 year old temple's Architectural heritage such as the rooftop a aatchala (means eight curves in two stages, 'arch and vault' that is like inverted boat).
The recreation of intricate terracotta and ceramic tiles on the walls of all sides of sanctum sanctorum.
The entire premises have been covered by a new boundary wall with five Singhadar (main gates). I reached early to avoid rush and waited at gate no 1 before it was open. Arround the boundary wall most of the Dala archid are shifted made the area very clean and clear. Some of the traditional shops still remain unchanged with earlier look. I entered the temple premises sharp at 4:00 PM. I had to wait at the courtyard passage to enter the main temple.
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication"
-Leonardo Da Vinci
True to this quote, Kalighat paintings are master pieces with simple brush strokes and minimum color palette.
Artists called "patuas" started to paint this style in between 19th & 20th century. One of the ancient art styles of India to embrace modern topics other than puranas & epics
Artists resided and sold their work around the famous Kalighat temple of Kolkata.
Earlier was painted as scrolls to narrate stories.
I fully satisfied by the grace of godess Kali Maa.
I would like to invite three fellow Steemians also to perticipate @eveetim @daprado1999 @aprendeconkevin.
Thank you for reading my post.
