Hackers from China are said to have stolen sensitive data from a computer belonging to a US Navy contractor.

The stolen data included plans for an anticapal supersonic missile launched from the submarine.

According to a Washington Post source source from an undisclosed US official, the hacking incident allegedly occurred between January and February.

Investigations are currently underway led by the US Navy in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The hacking action is believed to befall a contractor working for the Submarine Underwater Wars Center in Rhode Island.

Reported by The Telegraph, the stolen material includes data of 614 gigabit associated with a project called "Sea Dragon".

The data includes information on signals, sensor data, submarine radio space information related to cryptographic systems and intelligence war history data of naval submarine development units.
