Shady behavior by Tron and the exchanges

in Steem Governance5 years ago (edited)
  1. Exchanges are not powering down; which means they believe there is a quicker way to get funds liquid again, and they are banking on that "method" whatever it is

  2. During the meeting, that Roy dude kept insisting on a quick power down, as if that's the only way forward.

  3. He also hid behind the "threat" of a hard fork during a powerdown, when that threat still exists even before a power down.

  4. He acted as if the funds are theirs or something, but they're actually funds owned by the Steem community members and forking those away will be forking away the stake of our own. Why would we do that?

  5. @themarkymark was spot on with his questions. Roy just laughed, said something about sarcasm and went on about "how we want a safe way forward" while it was staring them in the face.

To them powering down is not a way forward.

With the current stalemate, we are in a better position to play the time game than the exchanges. The exchanges can either powerdown or vote again to force a hardfork, which is what I suspect they are planning to do. Not sure which ones will be brave/reckless enough to do that.

I don't see why we should accede to any of their demands/requests. I don't think it falls within the scope of decentralized governance to change the rules of the blockchain (and expose everyone to systemic risk) in order to reverse voluntary actions taken by a few accounts to power up "their own" STEEM.

Using SteemPeak from now on

Just observe Sun's narration. At the Korean chat he said about being hostile towards exchanges by locking their funds. And he meant not willing to lower power-down time by witnesses. That might points direction of their next moves...

Haven't seen the chat, but if he said that we are being hostile by locking their funds then he's confused or lying. The exchanges locked their own funds by powering up. Us refusing to reduce the powerdown period means we are maintaining our blockchain's integrity.

Is he trying to use those statements as justification for another hostile takeover attempt?

I know. It builds that ambient... At this moment I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a fuck about Steem and just wants to save his own ass...
