Книжковий хробачок, огляд 25: Тінь, що крадеться - Little bookworm, review 25: The sneaking shadow

Доброго ранку, шановна спільното!

Це четвертий допис з серії з пʼяти, і розповідаю я про всесвіт книжок Джонатана Страуда «Локвуд і Ко», про світ, де духи мерців почали повертатися до світу живих, і де діти і підлітки, я дині, хто здатний чути і бачити духів, ведуть з ними боротьбу.

Продовжую свою історію.

Підлітки з агенції «Локвуд і Ко» то не єдині цікаві персонажі всесвіту. Я вже згадувала той самий череп, що шепоче, а окрім нього є іще кілька цікавинок.

Наприклад Костомаха Фло. Торгівельниця артефактами, що ходить у геть брудному одязі і має такий саме запах, бо цілими днями порається у Темзі у пошуках чогось потойбічного. Наскільки я памʼятаю вона зʼявляється у третій книзі, коли агенти вимушені потрапити на чорний аукціон, щоб знешкодити там потужне джерело, що було викрадене торговцями артефактами.

Подруга Локвуда Костомаха Фло допомагає їм це зробити, і врешті решт все закінчується добре, проте команда ближче і ближче підбирається до розгадки таємничої навали привидів у Лондоні, і їх робота стає усе більш небезпечною.

Як у всіх подібних серіях з кожною книгою герої дещо дорослішають, по суті, дорослішають разом з читачем (я з того покоління, яке росло на книжках про Гаррі Поттера у шкільному віці, нажаль додатково Джонатана Страуда у мене не було, я б залюбки прочитала ці книжки значно раніше, а зараз от у 35 років наздоганяю), і з кожною наступною книгою битви стають трохи жорстокішими, теми трохи серйознішими. Проте це все одно залишається підлітковою читанкою.

У четвертій частині основний акцент уже йде не тільки на якесь окреме поточне розслідування, а й на проблеми світу взагалі, тобто що призвело до навали привидів я як це полагодити.

Є кілька ліній від ворогів до друзів, це я про лінію Квіла, який ненавидів Локвуда до тих самих пір, пока сам не подорослішав та не втратив змогу бачити і чути привидів. Та потім вони потоваришували, і Локвуд подарував Квілу ті самі окуляри, які вони вкрали іще під час розслідування у першій книзі, ті, що дозволяють бачити привидів.

Потроху все наближається до розвʼязки, але про це вже у пʼятому дописі.

This is the fourth post in a series of five, and I'm talking about the universe of Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co. books, a world where the spirits of the dead have begun to return to the world of the living, and where children and teenagers, I'm melons, who can hear and see spirits, fight with them.

I continue my story.

Teenagers from the agency "Lockwood and Co" are not the only interesting characters in the universe. I already mentioned the same skull that whispers, and besides it there are a few more interesting things.

For example, Kostomaha Flo. A dealer in artifacts who wears dirty clothes and smells exactly like that, because she wanders the Thames for days in search of something otherworldly. As far as I remember, she appears in the third book, when the agents are forced to go to a black auction to neutralize a powerful source there that was stolen by artifact dealers.

Lockwood Kostomach's friend Flo helps them do this, and in the end everything ends well, but the team gets closer and closer to solving the mysterious influx of ghosts in London, and their work becomes more and more dangerous.

As in all such series, with each book the characters grow up a little, in fact, grow up with the reader (I am from the generation that grew up on Harry Potter books at school age, unfortunately I did not have Jonathan Stroud in addition, I would have loved to read these books much earlier, and now at the age of 35 I'm catching up), and with each subsequent book the battles become a little more brutal, the themes a little more serious. However, this is still a teenage read.

In the fourth part, the main emphasis is not only on some separate current investigation, but also on the problems of the world in general, that is, what led to the influx of ghosts and how to fix it.

There are several lines from enemies to friends, this is my line of Quill, who hated Lockwood until he himself grew older and lost the ability to see and hear ghosts. But then they became friends, and Lockwood gave Quill the same glasses they stole during the investigation in the first book, the ones that allow you to see ghosts.

Little by little, everything is getting closer to a solution, but that will be discussed in the fifth post.
