Where is everyone? I am still here but are you?
I heard of the summer doldrums that blankets the entire steem blockchain, but I never thought it would be this impactful and it is fascinating to observe.
Like really, where is everyone?
(Republic of Congo/Central African Republic frontier and definitely not many people about here)
Do we really spend more time online out of the summer holidays.
This year after year. Or is it more of a case that we escape our reality during the darker and dreary winter months. Only to escape to a virtual world than seems to be integrating into our real lives bit by bit.
I must admit up until two weeks ago, the last two months have been consumed by all things Steemit and this regardless of the dropping values. It felt everyone I knew online and in person contributing to the blockchain, was 110% at it. Then like out of nowhere a lot of us started dropping off like flies or vastly diminishing our personal input. I know I am not the only one here experiencing this.
Why is this so?
Honestly I really do not know for certain, but I feel it is culmination of factors and not necessarily just one. I know that for me personally, the fact it is “summer” has no impact in my Steem input, but more a combination of a burned out feeling and the need to pay bills. You know: rent, electricity, wifi, food etc. I believe in blockchain and Steem in particular, but reality hits and I adapt accordingly. If Steem were like 10$ a piece, like right now, I would be working more on the platform and I am sure you would too.
I understand that stock market action globally goes on vacation during the summer months and liquidity thins considerably. Now that crypto and blockchain is more mainstream and worth a few pretty pennies now, would our doldrum trend be a reflection that we are still dominated by external price action and cycles?
So less people on Steem means increased share % of the daily rewards pool (I think). Bonus and I will quite happily power up until school is back in. Previous years show that August and September shows increased volumes. Therefore increasing price action and hopefully our ability to pay our bills. I also feel that we are in such the early stages of mass blockchain adoption, that we should take this “down time” as an opportunity to learn more and expand our experiences.
Why are you on Steem less?

Summer tends to be a time of lots of changes and travel - graduations, weddings, vacations, etc. So, that may have something to do with it. Cheers, @intrepidsurfer!
yes I agree, but does that really alter our behavior to be less inspired to plug away on Steem? I also enjoy observing how Steemit is developing itself and identifying trends.

I guess everyone is vacationing (except us!) Well, we'll just have to keep on Steemin....and wait for everyone to return. Don't give up! :)
hey :) yes I think we are the few remainers for the holidays. I also it is a good time to network more with very dedicated people.
I agree! I am definitely trying to do this! A smaller pool to work with! :)
:)
Personally, Becca is actually taking a summer holiday from the screens to enjoy the sunny and hot weather Europe is providing. For myself (Sam), it's a mixture of work commitments, University deadlines as I near the end of my MBA and lack of inspiration/motivation at times - partly to do with the above two reasons. Still I find a way to post something, but I don't want to post for the sake of posting. In times like these where I'm on a public transport going somewhere, it's the best time to read other people's post and comment plus engage on Discord (btw, send you a message 😉 had to slip that in). Other Steemians have their own reasons, but if you're not posting then engaging still keeps you in the loop.
I does seem a lot less busy here. I'm still and posting working it though. Continuing through the doldrums is good idea for me at least
hey good to hear from you. Yes, it is much quieter at the moment, but I am on it with a couple of post a day. Just earning that steem, one at a time. Plus having 6 months immersion is valuable experience and I love how I am learning more every day.
Don't stop posting is my thought. There was time when steem was 10 or 15 cents for months. Those early people who hung in did well later
