Azuga – The truth behind this name
Azuga Climatic Resort is located on the upper course of Prahova, at the foot of Bucegi Mountains, at an average altitude of 920 m. The settlement was initially called "Întreprahove" and was declared a town in 1948. With a tonic-stimulating climate, ozonized, the resort is recommended for treatment of asthenic neurosis, debilitating states, physical and intellectual surplus. This resort is an important starting point for the chalets from the Bucegi and Baiului Mountains.
Access to the Azuga railway is provided by domestic and international trains, which run to Bucharest-Brasov. The main road that crosses the resort from north to south is DN 1.
The main tourist destination is the ski area, which has modern facilities. Azuga can boast the first ski slope in Romania, approved by the International Ski Federation - Sorica slope. For this reason, as well as due to the massive investments in tourism infrastructure that have taken place lately, Azuga has developed visibly.
Thus, in the Azuga mountain resort there are the following parts: 1) Sorica: length 2100 m, average difficulty, a level difference of 561 m, night lighting installation and snow cannons for 700 m, 2) Cazacu:
length 1920 m, medium difficulty, a level difference of 530 m; 3) Cazacu variant: length - 400 m, average difficulty, has artificial snow. 4) Cazacu better: length 715,54 m, level difference 163, 21 m 5) Sorica Sud - length 770 m, mild, 6) La Stana - 910 m long, light, Other ski slopes and randomness a snowboard trail, located in the vicinity of Cazacu, is 10 km.
Tourism potential for the administrative territory of the city Azuga is exclusively the natural forms of tourism favored are: total rest or active, hiking 9 tourist routes from very easy to very difficult, in Bucegi and Baiului climbing routes in Bucegi with difficulty from I - VI) winter sports (alpine skiing, background, randonee, snowboarding, sleigh) summer sports (there are two handball – volleyball fields, one football field, two tennis courts on clay, 1 basketball court, a gymnasium), picnic, hunting and sport fishing.
Azuga also has an inaugurated cable gondola at the end of 2007 that gives top-floor access to all of the resort's slopes. There are also ski lifts, miniteleschi, and babysit.
The main tourist resources of Azuga are:
mountain landscape with aesthetic and functional value favorable to recreation but especially to recreational activities both in winter and in summer;
the subalpine mountain climate, similar to that recorded by the tourist resorts Prahova;
The possibility of a remarkable skiing in the Gârbovei Mountains as well as in the Predeal Clappers;
Valuable fish and hunting fund.
