Progo River is a river that flows Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region of Indonesia. In the Special Region of Yogyakarta, this river becomes the natural border of Kulonprogo Regency with Sleman and Bantul Regencies.

This river is sourced from the slopes of Mount Sumbing which passes to the southeast. In the Ngluwar sub-district, Magelang regency, Progo is blocked into two streams for irrigation facilities for the people of Yogyakarta by the Dutch. This dam is known as the "Ancol Bligo" which is now a recreation place for residents. This one irrigation flow flows from Ngluwar towards the East dividing Sleman District and into Klaten regency and is known as the Mataram Sewer (or "Van Der Wijck Ditch"), while the other one flows in Kulonprogo Regency descending the Menoreh Mountains valley. Progo River empties to the west of Kwaru Beach, on the southern coast of Java.

There are several tributaries that flow to Progo, such as Kali Krasak (upstream at Mount Merapi), Kali Elo, Kali Deres, Kali Kuasdan Kali Tinalah.

In the area around the estuary, found many sand mining. At the upstream, in the Magelang area, this river flow is utilized by white water rafting enthusiasts to try out their abilities. In the lower Progo stream there is Kisik River Camp, a white water rafting and kayaking operator. It has breathtaking rapids and stunning views along the river.
