Life's NO Secret #4 | CNY preparations all done !

ALL SET AND READY TO FEAST ?

Many chinese families are busy on this special day, which is very common. On this special day, we gather in our parent's home or our own and start the final touches of spring cleaning and most importantly, cooking for a feast for the entire family. Imagine the amount of work done just for one meal, sometimes the mise-en-place takes place days before just so we can enjoy our Reunion Dinner in a blast.

Well.. it isn't everyday that we have all our brothers and sisters in one roof together with their children; all excited to celebrate the Chinese Lunar Festival. As for me, we finally completed everything with a little special touch for this year. Instead of my usual Let's Buy From The Store, I decided to try my hands in baking the all time favorite chinese new year cookies; Bee Hive cookies and Pineapple Tart.

After several tries, I managed to master the skills in preparing both cookies. Well..the quantity made may not be for commercial purposes but for family and friends, I think I did pretty well. What's left to do is to make this final posting for the day before I hop back into the kitchen again.

How's your preparation for Reunion Dinner? Is it as massive as some families? In all the buzz of the celebration, let us not forget about those who are not so fortunate as ourselves. Those who are far away from their families, those who have to work on this day or those who have no one by their side. I've known friends who actually spend their Reunion Dinner with the senior citizens in the old folks home and orphanage home. I praise them for having a BIG heart and making others who are less fortunate than them more important on this day.
