The Olive Steakhouse | Tasteem Review
I wanted to celebrate !
Freedom was finally in my grasp and I took it without any hesitation. How else would I celebrate it but if not to indulge myself with a nice piece of bbq sirloin steak.
Browsing through Tripadvisor and looking at all those comments and recommendations, The Olive Steakhouse stood out to me. It was as if this particular restaurant was calling out to me. Deciding that this will be where I would have my dinner and celebrate my freedom, I had to plan well.
Knowing that I had a small stomach, I only had Pho for breakfast and skipping lunch all together. Getting myself ready for my dinner feast, I arrived at The Olive Steakhouse at about 4.30pm. It's very early for dinner, however, I wanted to avoid the dinner crowd and I was famished by the time I reached downtown District One.
Motorbike parking alley
Stairway to who knows where
Such a welcoming entrance
Searching for The Olive Steakhouse was easy since I had the directions from Tripadvisor; without it I was sure I would be lost. I had to walk through an alley with motorbikes parked on both sides. Looking out for the signages on the ceiling and wall, I slowly climbed two flights of stairs before reaching to my destination. Located on the far end of the corridor with the restaurant signage, I was glad that I finally found it.
Walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who lead me to a table of two. At this moment, there was another occupied table of 3 Korean guests dining and enjoying their meal. Guess, I'm not the only one who wants to avoid the dinner crowd. The restaurant is small but very similar to most restaurant in this town. With a seating capacity of not more than 20 persons, I consider it cosy and nice.
The decorations on the wall was simple and welcoming with soft music played. Not too loud that one cannot enjoy a good conversation. The menu is simple, only two pages; divided into starters, main course and dessert. Each had only about maximum four to five items to choose from.
I selected the pumpkin soup, 250gm bbq sirloin steak served with giant fries and Saigon beer. When the food came, I was not disappointed at all. Presentation may not be their main focus but the texture, taste and portion is just perfect, which for me is magnificent.
Just look at the size of the sirloin steak and the juice flowing out; I asked for medium degree of doneness and it came out perfect. The meat is just so tender when biting it. I finished my meal, everything on my plate!
And it only cost me VND455,000 = USD19.54 = MYR81.92
I will definitely return here again with my hubby to try the rest of the other dishes on the menu. The Olive Steakhouse is indeed a gem; a place I would keep to myself but sharing it with the world would do greater justice to the owner !
