How does our skeleton hold our body weight on our two feet?

We usually don't think about it when healthy but our two feet have to bear the weight of our whole body for many hours of the day, every day of our walking life.

Given a body weight of 80Kgs, that's 40Kgs for each feet to support. If you ever tried to lift a bag that weights this much, you'll know how heavy this is.

On top of this, our feet have to be connected to our legs all the while allowing angular motion so that we can walk and run.

How does this weight spread over a relative small area around our ankles does not cause massive wear and tear during our lifetime?

@irelandscape, You've touched super interesting subject and an subject which travels with us but we don't give much importance. Yes, every part of our body is performing particular role and this role is so vital that, if that role stops then our complete body gets imbalanced.
