Total lunar eclipse, Super blood moon and blue moon all today!!
“Super Blue Blood Moon” as it is being referred to implies a combination of celestial events: blue moon, supermoon and blood moon. First off, a blue moon is the incident that occurs, when a full moon is observed twice in a month. This event is a rarity, as it has been found to arise once every two-and-a-half years on average, says NASA.
Astronomers are poised to witness an event tonight that hasn't been seen in 150 years: a lunar eclipse on the same night as a blue moon.
Many parts of the globe may on Wednesday catch a glimpse of the moon as a giant crimson globe, thanks to a rare lunar trifecta that combines a total eclipse with a blue moon and super moon. The spectacle, which Nasa has coined a “super blue blood moon,” will grace the pre-dawn skies in the western US as the moon crosses into the shadow of the Earth and turns blood red.
