Spending time with God should be our desire

in HeartChurch3 years ago

God, my God is you;
At dawn I will look for you;
My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you,
In dry and arid land where there is no water.
Psalm 63: 1

It is impressive how this psalm begins: "God, you are my God." The author of the psalm firmly declares that his only God is the God who made heaven and earth. There is no God who equals the greatness of the eternal God who dwells high above the clouds.

There are many people who serve and worship images and consider them their gods. However, the Scriptures declare that these images have eyes but do not see, mouths, but do not speak, hands and do not feel, because they are similar to those who made them.

God is unique and does not share his glory with anyone. If we are certain that God is our true God, then a decision should be made to spend meaningful time with God in his presence and worship him with great longing and passion.

Sometimes we say that God is our God, but we do not serve Him as He demands of His children. Many times we neglect our relationship with God to give more importance to other things than to God himself.

Consideration should be given to the time we spend with God and how we seek it with our hearts. The truth is that God is unique and true. Spending time in his presence implies our spirit's need for God's presence. The psalmist also declares that the time that He first sought from God was early morning, "At dawn I will seek you."

Seeking God's presence in the early hours of the day is of great benefit to us and pleasing to God.

At dawn we surrender to the feet of the Lord and express our sincere praise. At dawn God looks at the heart of those who seek him and covers them with his renewed mercies.

It must be recognized that spending time with God implies that we need Him. Spending time with God implies that we hunger and thirst for God's presence as the psalmist says, "My soul thirsts for you."

How wonderful it is to recognize that our soul and spirit thirst for the justice and presence of God. We must be constant in the search for God and feel that great longing for his presence as something very vital for our existence on earth. There must be a great longing of both our soul and our flesh for the presence of God and to live under his glory and power.

We should spend time with God through His word and Spirit until we’re totally consumed and lost in him; so that when Christ who is our life shall appear, then we shall appear with him in glory!

Colossians 3:3-4
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
