Is This The Future (Do I Really Need a Microchip To Work Here)
A Wisconsin technology company is utilizing microchips in its employees. The chips are implanted under the skin, can be used for building scans and also to purchase food at work. The implanting of the chip is said to be up to the employee.
Three Square Market, company provides the technology for break rooms and micro-markets, has over 50 employees that are said to be getting the implant. The small chip uses RFID (Radio frequency identification), and can be inserted in between the thumb and forefinger in “mere seconds,” according to the company.
The company, based in River Falls, Wisconsin, USA., sees this as a means toward better accessibility into rooms, buildings, making payments, etc.,. Their goal is to have the employees that need particular levels of access to have that ability from the rice grain sized chip. The CEO of the tech company Todd Westby says his goal is to incorporate their technology into every possible facet. This is seen as the beginning in a long road leading to passports, public transportation, purchasing of items and other possibilities.
The company providing the chips wants to assure everyone that its no big deal because their employees are taking part in this procedure.
I tried to write as impartial of a piece as possible but this is down right ludicrous. So much for freedom? I wouldn't be shocked if the government was using this to tag the homeless and criminals.
Yes this is a very interesting topic of discussion. I wrote an in depth article on this a few days ago along with my views on transhumanism. You obviously seem to be against the philosophy, which is completely understandable. Biohacking can be a risk that most aren't willing to take.
In terms of transhumanism that is a philosophy while biohacking is an actual science. What I wrote had nothing to do with my not being into biohacking as I am totally for it. However, the means in which the government and other parent like companies want to use the tech for I am not. Its the same as putting a loaded gun into someone's hands if you don't know their true intentions you may be the one to get shot for trusting them.
Is this our future? Big Brother watching me 24/7.
If that's gonna happen in the future, I'd rather live like Tom Hanks in Cast Away movie.
Me and you both.
Just like this man. Real-life castaway survived 438 days lost at sea. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/01/08/world/rewind-real-life-castaway/index.html
I'd rather play it like the scavenger types in the walking dead and just pop into town for various runs...lol.
lol! you would scare out people!
but on second thought, I think that's a cool idea! I'd join you! lol
Feel free to do so but bring a lot of mojo with you ;). You are in the perfect place as the P.I. has so many jungle type areas people would just leave you alone. I spent a lot of time at Subic Bay.
haha! don't worry I've got a lot of mojos! team power! :))
dope! what did u do in Subic? did you work for the army? You prolly know a lot of martial arts eh? check out my last article. :))
I am new on steemit,so please help me by upvoting and commenting on my post.i also following @eagleye
It is very very disturbing. While in the Navy I went to a training school as an Information Systems Security Manager I came to realize just how much Big Brother really is watching. My instructor pulled up a server that the US Department of Defense uses for "cyber" attacks and tracking of "terrorism". The site was literally a map of the world and their internet usage, it monitors every key word they input and they can and will shut down pipelines from different parts of the world. Can't say I wanted to stay in the room for long as sometimes you just don't want to see what happens on the other side.
its hard to believe that here are so many people willing to go through with an operation to basically invite big brother and every dystopian nightmare into existence. You'd think all the sci fi would discourage this kind of behavior but I fear that when companies start requiring it, many people will choose to do it rather than lose a job....if only we could keep this door shut before it blasts wide open.
Agreed! The people that are okay are following blindly just to fit in with the community. As if we aren't already being watched more than we'd ever know...lol.
Yes! I use community in a different way though, it almost always has a positive meaning for me.....I would call this the masses or the norm or if I wanted to be stronger about it, sheep...
this is evil in the making and bitcoin is a target also. When this happens itl be the banks who control everything literally and those who disagrees, there chip will be turned off.
I was truly hoping this was just more fake news. The technology doesn't shock me because we have it for our dogs to a degree. The shocker is how sheepish people are about it as in if their doing it then its okay. Very sad and troubling.
It boggles the mind that somebody would use such a primitive and cumbersome technology on their own body. It doesn’t offer any new benefits while posing a health risk.
I see it as nothing more than one more thing to impose upon people to let them know they are lesser than.
On something totally unrelated your writing is so captivating I hope you've been working toward getting it to either TV or Film. As a scriptwriter myself I can appreciate it when there is no filler material and instead you're taken for a ride throughout.
I agree. Even if the motives behind those chips were noble to begin with, I have no doubt the powers that be are going to attempt and use the improved incarnations of this tech to subjugate the common wo/man. If they can rifle through your tablet at the airports of today, what’s there to stop them from going through your brain once the means to do so have been developed?
Thank you for the kind remark about my writing. It was good to hear it from somebody who has been around. I think it may steer me in the right direction during my fantasy-novel editing process. I need to declutter the content, definitely.
I’d like to write more and better, but gaining audience is such a tough nut to crack. A film, animation, or TV series would be great, of course, or even some illustrated episodes on Steemit. For that I’d need people on board who can handle the visual side of the project.
Its not as difficult as you'd believe it to be. Not sure if you heard of the show Broad City as I worked with the two stars and asked them how they got their break. They told me about their original programming on YouTube. Each episode was between 3 to 5 minutes just to show the potential. I think they did roughly two years of that and built up a good following and Comedy Central bought the show. They are now going into their 4th season with the network. If you need any insight on cornering the market once you have the basis for something you're going to push as well as the typical process let me know.
Usually, backers or major studios are just looking for proof of concept as they don't want to spend the money anymore. If you can get shorts or episodic releases on YouTube and other forms of social media with a solid following your leverage is already established.
I’ve looked into Broad City, and they did start small indeed.
Thanks for the offer of help down the road, @jacobchamplain. Let’s see how it goes.
These guys are up to something... time will tell
Wow- this is somewhat eye opening and somewhat scary.... Whatever happened to freedom and choice- glad I was born before the internet so at least I know how it used to be...
Same here. I'd rather become a mountain man before I'd submit to such a thing.
