ACHIEVEMENT6 Task by @jaja2: Understanding Curation And Community
Writing my achievement posts on this platform has been very educative and entertaining so far. Through completing them, I've been able to learn a great deal of knowledge which I doubt I'd find somewhere else. Today, I come your way with my achievement6, which is going to analyze my understanding of the curation, witnesses and community on this platform. Without further I do, let's delve straight into it.
Do You Understand How Voting And Curation Work In Steemit?:
Curation and Voting in steemit basically refers to similar concepts. Curation involves rewards given to contents based on their originality and creativity. Curation rewards are done on post of quality content by clicking on the vote buttons to increase the monetary values of the post. Monetary value?...Yes. Curation is all about supporting a post by rewarding it with likes in the form of money. To curate someone, you upvote them. Thus, when your post is curated by someone, you earn some money from it.
Voting simply refers to approving/disproving someone's post. You can either upvote or down vote a post. They basically are similar the like and dislike buttons on youtube, except that in steemit, an upvote puts some amount of monetary standards on the post, and a down vote may go a long way from disproving a post to reducing the monetary value of it. When you like a post and wish to support it, you simply click on the green upward-pointing sign like in the image below. The red button represents a downvote.
The influence of a vote depends on the person's steem power on this platform. There are some who when they upvote your post, you immediately become a happier person, because they have higher steempowers. All votes come from a rewards pool. Everyone has a voting mana. Your voting mana recharges 20% per day. And so if you exhaust your mana, you wait until full recharge of 100% before proper voting again. When you reach a higher level(at least 500SP) a bar appears anytime you want to upvote so you can moderate the level of upvote you wish to give.
What Happens If You Vote A Post Before Five Minutes Mark After Posting:
When a person votes on a post, it comes from his/her rewards pool. When a post receives a curation, 50% of it goes to the author of the content and the other 50% goes to the curator.
The value of a vote on a content depends on the time interval from the time of posting and five minutes after posting. When say I vote on a content before it reaches five minutes after the author had posted it, a corresponding value of my voting mana is used while the remainder is left in my reward pool. In this way, the reward is lesser. To explain further, consider the following table.
Posting time | Curation Reward | Reward Pool |
---|---|---|
1 min | 20% | 80% |
2 min | 40% | 60% |
3 min | 60% | 40% |
4 min | 80% | 20% |
5 min | 100% | 0% |
If I vote 1 minute after it was posted, the reward is 20% while the remaining 80% in the pool.
Who Will You Vote For Steem Witness And Why?:
Steem witnesses are individuals who have been tasked to produce block for the blockchain network and also serve as the governance body. There exist a total of 21 witnesses. Each of these witnesses are expected to produce blocks every three seconds. Hence, the network produces blocks every 63 seconds. When they create each block, they're rewarded with steem power.
To be honest, I have not come across most of the witnesses so far. I have only read and heard of a few including @justyy and @steemchiller.
Therefore, they are the steem witnesses I would vote for. I have learnt so far:
@justyy developed and implemented the steemyy.com, which is a very useful tool used in this blockchain ecosystem.
@steemchiller has contributed to the growth of the blockchain network by creating a powerful tool, steemworld.com.
Which Community Will You Join And Why?:
There are a number of communities on the platform that seem wonderful to be a part of. Communities aim to bring like-minded individuals together under common goals to help foster learning and progress among each other.
Some of the communities I have already joined and admire are:
Newcomers Community: This community aims to bring new Steemians in to the steemit world, and training and guiding them to have wonderful and successful time here.
Steemit Cryptoacademy Community: This community is one I have grown to admire even though I haven't posted in it yet. It offers tremendous opportunities to its members to learn a great deal when it comes to the world of blockchains and cryptocurrencies. I love reading lectures and assignment posts from this community.
Steemghana Community: This community, only God knows how grateful I am to already be a part of it. It's members are so lovely and supportive. I've met a lot of friends in this community alone since I joined. They help and guide me to be a better steemian all the time.
So far, I'm really very happy about my progress on this platform. I have acquired a lot of knowledge and growth since I joined a while back. I hope to learn more from everyone as time goes by.
Thank you for reading my post and I hope to be back with more juicy contents very soon. Have a nice time.
