Original Artwork by @jangaladesigns! Making of a Shipibo design!
Greetings! I've been very much enjoying sharing my work and story with the steemit community! There have been a couple of members whose blogs I must give a plug to because of their amazing content. Please check out @deadspace and and @opheliafu and make sure to drop some up-vote love on them! Today I have compiled a new story about the progress of a custom hat project that I did in July 2016!
Custom Crown #353 Shipibo
The client that commissioned this piece had requested a design that is inspired by Shipibo patterns but with my own style to it. I had previously been unaware of this magnificent culture and felt compelled to do a little bit of research. I found my findings to be very inspiring and jumped right into the work! Admittedly, I do not know how to share pictures from the internet in a way that might not violate copyright, however if you are interested in learning more I would definitely recommend looking up "shipibo" in Google Images!
Before I begin, let me offer a little bit of background about what exactly Shipibo means. The Shipibo people are an indigenous tribe that live around the Amazon River of Peru. For millennia, they have practiced Ayahuasca Shamanism, chronicling their spiritual knowledge through intricate hand embroidered patterns. It is these patterns that my client wanted me to incorporate in my own way into his order.
For this project I took a leap and decided to truly encapsulated the essence of a shipibo design into my own style. Down below are a few shots of the design in its infancy. Check them out!
Like my other hats, I start it off by first completing the centerpiece. As the shipibo design progressed, it started to take on a cruciform shape!
As the cruciform pattern began to fill in, the design took on more of a circular shape.
Once the centerpiece was finally complete, the design is rounded off by filling in the rest with my signature patterns...
FINITO!
Below is the finished product glowing in the dark! To achieve this effect, expose the hat to a light source (preferably some sort of fluorescent lighting.)
As always, thank you for checking out my work! Your interest and support is most encouraging and I will continue to share more of my artwork on a frequent basis! If you like what you see, please feel free to follow, like and/or leave a comment! If you are an artist as well and would like for me to check out your work, definitely link me up and I would be happy to offer my input! ~Hratch Jangala
This is fantastic! Great art work and I love the black light effects.
I cannot even imagine how long this took you to design and allow to dry before you could move to the next phase.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your designs. Following. :)
@merej99 thank you so much for your feedback! I'm pleased that you like my work! Ye, each project requires a great deal of time to complete! Thanks for following me, I have also followed you! :)
