Inflammation
It is a natural response of the body to an infectious agents and injury. It is a compound process that includes the initiation and the activation of the immunity system and the release of signal molecules. The key purpose of the inflammation it to protect the body by the release of the initial cause of injury of cells and starting the repair of the tissues.The types of inflammation are
Acute inflammation
It is a short term response of the body that happens instantly after the damage it injury of the tissue. It has signs with redness, pain swelling and heat. The blood flow raised to the affected part of the body.
Chronic inflammation
It is a long-term response of the body to the injury and lasts for months or more than. It is due to any autoimmune disease.it is Linked with the conditions of health such as diseases of the heart, diabetes and disease of the joints.

Infectious agents
The microorganisms' can cause inflammation in the body. When the body detects these organisms it stimulates the immunity system and cause inflammation.
Physical injury
The physical injury like fractures can activate the immunity system response. The cytokines are released after the injury or damage. This response is very important for the process of tissue healing.
Chronic irritants
The exposure to the irritants such as pollution and smoking can cause inflammation. Unhealthy diet can with high sugars can cause inflammation in the body and can cause obesity and ultimately results in diabetes.
Stress
Stress is also a factor that results in the inflammatory process. The release of stress hormones can disturb the system of immunity and can cause inflammation.

Regular exercise can have anti-inflammatory benefits, also eating more foods high in natural antioxidants will help our system free from inflammation
Yeah, it is true that inflammation is a natural response to injuries and infection. It is characterized by symptoms such as redness of affected areas, heat , swelling, etc. It is not proper to leave it untreated, as it may become serious and concerning.
To prevent it , we need to maintain proper hygiene, lifestyle modification as you said,eat healthy and get adequate sleep.
