Africa was introduced into the game of Cricket as far back as the early 1900s. they haven’t looked back since then. One such nation that has invested so much into this sport in recent times would be Zimbabwe. Because of their efforts in the sport, they have made progress down the years and have also produced some players who have surely made it to the top. One such player would be Sean Williams. Who is Sean Williams and why is he worthy of mention for his country and indeed the entire world of cricket?
Who is Sean Williams?
Sean Williams is presently the captain of his country and really the most experienced of their players in this current era. He was born in 1986 which illustrates just how long he has stayed in the sport. He is, therefore, playing what would be his last years in the game and boy, he does not look like he is going to take a break anytime soon. He is often regarded by most people as an all-rounder due to his ability to play the game in all its formats. This makes him a very useful player for his country.
He first appeared on the international scene for Zimbabwe when he played for the Under-19 team. While he was part of that team, he was often recognized as being one of the best batsmen around. It was not surprising then when he was the talisman for Zimbabwe in the under-19 world cup where they claimed a win over England. That win would probably stay with him for a long time.
He would later go on to play in the T20 series and would also be a prominent player in domestic cricket as he featured regularly for the Tuskers. In what would be one of the greatest misses in his career, he was unable to make it to the world cup in 2011 due to injuries. In fact, during that period, he has more injuries than he had ever had in his career. However, he would make it to the World Cup and play against the UAE where he shone after making 75 runs which were unbeaten in the game. Though Zimbabwe was not able to go all the way, it was clear that they had a quality player in Sean Williams
Personal Life
Patricia and Colins Williams were his parents and that must explain a lot. His father was a former cricket player who played first-class cricket while his mother played hockey. His brother played cricket for both the country and the exact club which Sean would also play in. it is often said that family would play a vital role in how your future would turn out. That saying could not be truer when it comes to his case.

As the final years of his career slowly wanes, it must be said that Zimbabwe would find it extremely hard to replace him. That is after all the mark of a quality cricket player.
