Slavery Is Alive And Well - On A Global Scale

Slavery Is Dead?

Many misconceptions exist when societal issues are discussed by the general public. There are two root causes of this. The first, and determining factor, is willful ignorance resulting in a lack of education of the average person (people choose not to learn). The second root cause of humanity's confusion lies in the mainstream media's ability to plant a concept in your mind where one does not exist. In other words: because we haven't learnt the true meaning of a concept, any meaning may be inserted into the blank space we have failed to fill with knowledge through willfully educating ourselves.

Before we can look at this topic we must understand the definitions of the words and concepts involved.

First, let us define slavery:

Mariam Webster defines slavery as;

1 : drudgery, toil
2 : submission to a dominating influence
3 a : the state of a person who is a chattel of another
b : the practice of slaveholding

Let us now use the same resource to inspect the words used to define slavery and extract the true concept intended by this definition.

Drudgery:
dull, irksome, and fatiguing work : uninspiring or menial labor; the drudgery of his job

Toil:
1 : long strenuous fatiguing labor
2 archaic
a : struggle, battle
b : laborious effort

(I will have to interject here; Notice how being a 'Hard Worker' is presented as an honorable trait in our society? And of course, I am not implying anything will come to you without effort and determination, it's the fore-fitting of your personal life for a 'job' that is being presented here. This has been taken to the next level and has resulted in 'Workaholics', or if you prefer; 'Good Slaves'.)

Chattel
1 : an item of tangible movable or immovable property except real estate and things (such as buildings) connected with real property
2 : slave, bondman

As slavery can be defined by any of the above mentioned words, so can an over-arching concept be discovered;

Slavery is:

  • One being or beings laboring, working or toiling to the benefit of a dominating influence who considers the afore mentioned being(s) to be their property,
    or,
  • One being or beings submitting, and usually struggling in some way, to the benefit of a dominating influence.

Come Clarity

As with many concepts, such as Anarchy, the idea represented by slavery has been distorted, altering the overall perception of the term when used. To clarify, slavery does not necessarily have to include;

  • Money or the lack of paying thereof
  • Violence
  • Racial discrimination

Slavery is simply one being oppressed by another, or one being thinking or acting like they own another. Can slavery include violence, lack of pay and discrimination? Of course it can! That does not make slavery these things nor does it necessitate slavery to include any or all of these associated concepts.

Greater Understanding

Let us use our new found clarity to enforce our understanding. Let's look at some concepts which may be considered slavery but are generally not looked at as such.

The following could all be associated with, or considered forms of slavery;

  • The education system
  • Any job (not done of free will 100% of the time)
  • Government
  • Police & military
  • Some parenting practices (If you have a 'because I said so' attitude, you may be promoting a slave-think mentality in your child.)
  • Prostitution
  • Human trafficking
  • 'Community' service

Closing The Racial Divide

The topic of slavery has been the harp chord for much of the racial tension, especially between 'black' and 'white', that we witness in our society. Of course this is due to the recent past, in which Caucasians have been the main tool for the oppression of others. What if we were to travel a little further back in history?

The word slave actually stems from the root Slavic. The Slavic people originated in central and eastern Europe. They were Caucasian and christian, quite a difference from the idea most get in their minds when thinking of a slave. So many of these people were forced into slavery that the term has literally been named after them.

The point is; most people, regardless of decent, have had their time in chains. It has lead neither side to a grander destination nor allowed any 'race' to hold dominion over another. Instead it has lead us to where we stand today; A world where everyone is a slave and many don't know it. A planet where the ignorant pretend to know and are manipulated by those who do. Societies where the suffering of many brings comfort for few.

From Here?

I am hoping those of you who read this post (and aren't already) will begin to educate yourselves towards greater understanding. The words and concepts we misunderstand and use very day are the bars of our prison. Free yourself with knowledge put into action! Discover the truth and from there make changes in your life which are congruent with your findings.

Great post! I would add debt to the list of forms of slavery, as I have come to the conclusion that one of, if not the most oppressive widespread form of slavery in America is debt slavery, which of course is directly connected to being a slave to a job to pay off that debt. At the same time, one is also 'forced' to pay interest on the federal debt through the unlawful application of the income tax - paying interest on a debt that isn't theirs, to a central bank that doesn't care, a foreign-owned central bank which finances the biggest war machine/military empire in the world - sacrificing our brothers and sisters in endless war for the profit of the greedy few.

"Give me control of a nation's money, and I care not who makes their laws." - I can't remember for sure if it was lord Rothschild who said that, or another elite banker.

Keep up the good work @jayanarchon - really enjoy your posts :)

Debt is definitely a form of slavery. This has been common knowledge for those 'in the know' for thousands of years. Even the Bible warns people about this (not that I condone religion in any form). Proverbs 22-7 says; "The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." There are TONS of proverbs, Christian and other-source, imparting this knowledge upon humanity.

Taxation without consent is just plain theft, a slave mentality allows acceptance of this.

Thanks for the valuable comment @jasonliberty!

Slavery can be seen especially in the Middle East.
