STEEM FACEMASK FOR STEEM COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN || SEWING TUTORIAL
Hello PromoSteem Community. This is a step by step tutorial on how I sew the facemask for STEEMIT CAMPAIGN of @jassennessaj and @julstamban. This is a 3-ply washable facemask that is made of 100% cotton material.
So here are the materials:
- bond paper for the pattern (the pattern is for Small-Medium adult size, to adjust to larger size add another 1cm or more around the pattern)
- 6pcs 7x7inches fabric
- 2pcs 8.5inches garter (size of the garter 1/8 inches wide)
Now let us start the process.
- First, I made a pattern in a piece of bond paper. The sizes are on the pattern below. The pattern I made is inclusive of the seam allowance which is 1cm.
[========]
- Next, I cut the pattern and trace it on the fabric.
[========]
- After tracing it, I pinned the fabric together to make it stay in place , so I can cut all 6pcs of fabric at the same time.
[========]
- Separate the fabric, one pair is two pieces and the other pair is 4pcs. Sew the side of the fabric that will be covering the face. Repeat the process to the other pair of the fabric.
[========]
- Now, put the two pairs of fabric together, put the right side of the fabric inside. The wrong side of the fabric should be facing outside. Sew the side, but leave 1 inch for the opening for turning the mask right side out. (You can pin the fabric together if you have problem making the fabric stay in place.)
[========]
- Turn the mask right side out, you can use any pointed object to push out the corners. Remember to fold the fabric in the 1 inch opening and close it with a pin.
[========]
- Do a topsticth around the sides of the facemask. Topstitching will help the facemask to stay in place and gives a crisp edge.
[========]
- Make an inch fold on both sides then sew. This will be the casing for the garter or elastics.
[========]
- I use a big plastic needle to insert the garter on the casing.
[========]
- Tie the elastic and hide the knot inside the casing.
[========]
- Now the facemask is done. (Note: print the logo first before sewing the facemask so the print will come out brighter and clean.)
I want to thank my brother @julstamban for giving me an opportunity to make this facemask that will be used for their Steemit Campaign.
Here is the link for their campaign:
I want to give thanks to the promosteem team led by @arie.steem @pojan @ponpase.
This is great, my mother also tailor too. I just want to know how is the screen printing process?
Thank you. I used heat-press machine to print on the fabric. I used sublimation printing.
Congratulations...!!! You Got Upvote & Resteem
