Blood on my hands - Wednesday Walk - Actifit: August 27 2020
This will probably be the weirdest Actifit post I’ve ever written.
The evening started out normally enough. My husband and I had dinner and then drove to the trail.
But along the way, we came upon an accident. A man had been biking along and must have hit a corner of the curb or perhaps he blacked out and fell. The other good samaritans and I quickly ascertained that he’d had a few stiff ones at a bar about five miles away and was almost home when he got dumped off his bike and hit is head on the hard cement curb. He was not wearing a helmet.
Blood was pouring from a gash - so much that it was running down the street. We fortunately had some paper towels, and I was able to hold these in a pack to his head to stop the bleeding. I cradled his head until the ambulance came.
His name was Bruce. He very much did not want an ambulance to come. I doubt he had insurance or medical care.
The good news: the victim was lucid and the wound actually did not seem life threatening. However, I do know that head injuries take lives even when they don’t appear to be serious, so hopefully they will know to watch for swelling on the brain. (There has been one death and one near-death experience from head injuries in my family and social circles in the last few years. Wear a helmet!)
After that we left. I rubbed plenty of hand sanitizer all over my hands and we continued to the trail and took our walk.
But that is the reason for the delay in getting my Actifit post up, and the reason for the very dark photos. We had lost our daylight by the time we got to the trail.
We got to the lake and I was able to get a few pictures of the houses across the lake, reflecting the lights from their windows on the water.
Thank you for visiting! And thanks to @tattoodjay for hosting #WednesdayWalk, one of my favorite tags!
