Don't Stop Learning
Marcus Aurelius
I heard a story of man called "Marcus Aurelius" who hired an assistance to follow him as he walked through the Roman town square, the assistance only role was to whisper a message to Marcus Aurelius Each time he gets a compliment.
So when ever Marcus Aurelius was Praised the assistance will whisper in his ears
"You re just a man"
"You re just a man"
They say two things define us,our patience when we have nothing and our humility when we have everything.
The greatest thinkers on the planet believes that they are habitual learners and habitual students.
just like Maya Angelou said "I've learned that i still have a lot to learn"
The person that we will become in 5 years is defined by the people we spend time with today and the books that we read today.
That's why who we associate with, who we spend time with, who we absorb our energy with will really define what's on our mind.
Often what limits our learning is that we believe we already know.
we tend to believe that we have the knowledge and the answers.
when we should open up our self to learn from the people around us, selectively choosing people who can be guides and wise advisors.
we often find that this feeling of "knowing" makes us actually judge and criticize others.
That's why we see that judging is critical but observing can be educational
we should be so focused on improving ourselves that we don't have energy to criticize anyone else, when we focus on improving our self, we surround our self by people who challenge the way we think and question the way we behave.
when looking around and you find yourself been the smartest person in the room, change room, you are in the wrong room.
You want to be around people who lift up the way you think, who lift up your mindset, who take you to new dimensions and horizons that you could never ever imagine your self.
Never let compliment get to your head , never let criticism get to your heart because only when you do that, can you start to build with genuineness and authenticity.
When we are humble we can actually grow and raise up, we walk around feeling that we are learning and developing, knowing that someone can share insight at any moment that can change our lives.
Often, We tend to discover that many similar situation keep coming into our life and never goes away until it teaches what we needed to learn.
if we don't extrapolate lessons from these situations, then we have to take that test over again and again, till the lesson is learnt. therefore simultaneously or repetitive situations keep approaching in our lives.
when we realize that we are student for life, instead of making people see how powerful we are, we will want people to understand how powerful they are, and we will learn on how to empower others, then we can actually attract people to work with us to achieve our goals.
They say it's better to know how to learn than to know, because when we know how to learn, it becomes a habit, it becomes part of our mindset, it becomes part of the way we daily navigate our life ,we keep trying to draw lessons from every person , every situation, every interaction, and every moment that can actually teach us something about our selves, society, our world , something about how we can interact with that space we live in .
Brian Herbert said "the capacity to learn is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill, but the willingness to learn is a choice"
