How I found out about Steemit - By @jedigeiss

Hi all,

nice idea, there are many good stories coming out of this.

I joined in August 2017 after waiting for quite a while because the process was a lengthy one ;)
There were many reasons for joining Steem and most of them are still valid to the present day, but what caught my eye initially was a series of posts from @jimbo88 about BOINC and the possibilities of running this on Raspberry Pis. I gladly was hinted at this by using Google to search for BOINC and Pis, a very good position in the Google results is always key ;)
I was already digging into Gridcoin for quite a while back then and Jimbo was doing things that I had on my List of Todos as well.
Then I found out about the rest of the vibrant Gridcoin community on Steem back then and read quite a lot of Articles from @vortac and @dutch and a lot of others like @jringo and @grider123.
I was very happy when the mail finally came and I was able to log in and also start contributing about Gridcoin and a lot of other technical and non-technical topics.

I already did look into Blockchains a lot back then, since I am a computer scientist by trade and this was a revolutionary idea I somehow was hooked from the first beginnings. The bad thing is that I did not buy Bitcoin in the first moments though... But well, what is a lambo anyways...

Over the years I encouraged quite a few people to use Steem and the very unique possibilities that come along with it, but well, to be honest, most of them are not here today, some just lost interest, others engaged in some kind of drama and quite a few left when Utopian was shut down.

Nevertheless, I am always curious what the next change will be and how the crypto world and especially Steem will look like once we are a few curves ahead :)

Kind regards,
Jan

ps, the pic is quite old and part of an article I wrote about one of the first games on the Steem Blockchain, Steempunk.net that was invented by @dehenne and myself :)

Hello! Your mention has pulled me out of hibernation! I don't have much to add, but I am glad you enjoyed my BOINC articles. And I'm happy to report that the Raspberry Pi's are still contributing to BOINC (TN Grid currently) and earning some GRC too.

hey jimbo, you are still around somehow ? Yes I totally enjoyed the articles and they helped me in various ways, i have something similar running and crunching numbers since quite a while. It has been a pleasure reading them.
thanks alot for writing them.
yours Jan
