Movie Review - Daylight's End. It's like The Walking Dead ........but way more boring.
Daylight's End is the kind of movie that you immediately want to watch after seeing the poster or trailer.
It looks exciting and suspenseful.
It looks like the kind of movie that will really keep you on the edge of your seat.
It seems like an adrenaline pumping, heart wrenching, fear inducing romp through a world overrun by zombies.
Is that what it's like though?
Let's find out.

This movie stars Johnny Strong and Lance Henriksen.
Johnny Strong has apparently been in a string of movies but I don't believe I've ever actually seen the guy or at least I didn't recognize him.
Lance Henriksen played a part that everyone that who loves science fiction movies should know quite well.
Bishop.
That's right. He's older now and his hair is white....... but Lance Hendrickson is Bishop from the Aliens movies.
Pretty cool right?

There he is quoting Isaac Asimov's law of robotics.
I love science fiction.
So what is Daylight's End about aside from zombies running all over the place?
Well, first of all, the zombies in this movie are more like vampires. In that way it's kind of like I Am Legend.
They can't come into the sunlight or else they will immediately burn up and die.
As it turns out...... there was some sort of plague that affected the entire planet.
Most of the world turned into some sort of blood thirsty vampire creature that crave human flesh.
They seem to be mindless zombies for the most part but there are also alphas mixed in that are much more powerful than the standard zombie vampires.

A lone badass appears out of nowhere.
He's got a serious grudge against the zombie vampires because they killed his girlfriend....... or someone that was important to him that we assume is his girlfriend.
This total badass ends up helping a group of survivors and a lot of crazy shooting action goes down.
There are a handful of problems that prevent this movie from being what I would consider good.
The first one is the plot which is clearly taken from a handful of other movies, put in a blender, and pulled out like some kind of stray mutt.
Don't get me wrong I love all sorts zombie movies and this movie could have been great but certain things just weren't done correctly.
What if the hero in I Am Legend wasn't a scientist but instead was some kind of loan vigilante? What if we took certain parts from 28 Days Later and mix them in with certain other action movies and created a sort of Jean Claude Van Damme goes against The Walking Dead feel?
That's exactly what they did.

Unfortunately they left out all of the suspense.
The actions the characters make are mostly pretty dumb.
The motivations don't feel real and you don't feel attached to any character at all.
There is a lot of gun play, and a lot of running around, and a lot of screaming and fighting against zombies....... which all sounds really cool.
It just never gets brought in any semblance of rationality.
Daylight's End is a decent movie if you've got nothing else to watch but at the same time it doesn't serve any purpose whatsoever.
It's just a decent way to kill a couple of hours.
Never heard about "Johnny Strong" either as well till seeing that poster in your article...
zombie movies are awesome. sometime they make me creazy.
Be careful with that.
The beginning is interesting, without a doubt, the post-apocalyptic world, but as the film progresses, it gains more drama than the action we expect.
Thanks for the heads up. What I am actually going to do, is to watch the other movies you mentioned. This one, I will skip.
Definitely a good plan.
Good work. Kudos.
Very nice work....love it friend
