The Crypto Optimist Mantra

I was discussing the recent market sentiment, both prices and overall levels of friction, with a long-time crypto insider and investor.

For me, though my confidence in the value and potential around crypto is probably at an all-time high, I do find it frustrating and draining every time I meet a hard skeptic.

At this point, it’s just tiring. I am fine with people who want to understand with an open-mind. I’ll spend all day on that.

But those who have read a few articles and say things like “it’ll never work” or “there’s no value.”

I just find it exasperating on top of the massive display of ignorance since 1) it is working and 2) if people are willing to trade an item they value for it, then by definition, it has value.

He nodded in a shared experience and relayed a story from an airport where he had met a crypto-skeptic.

Then, in one of those moments of natural poetry, he finished the story.

“I just turned to him and said.

‘Your doubt is my alpha.'”
