March 18, 2020--Practice/Daily Blog
Rather than a picture today, here is a run through of something I am working on: Bach Prelude in A major from the Prelude and Fugue in A major BWV 536. Second day of not having to be at work, but spent most of my day working anyway. I have to get my music Appreciation class online, so I am quickly making videos and trying to write quizzes for something I really don't know if it is going to work. A lot of labor intensive stuff. Put about twenty minutes of material together for a second class. One more to do before Monday. I'm getting faster at it, though.
The day began with a quick run into my Office to make sure I had everything to work from home. I did. So, I was able to get some practice time at the organ on campus. I did this recording near the end. I made it to the store to get food for as long as I could--I think we will not need another run until next Tuesday at the earliest. Then came home and worked on the computer for most of the day. Had left over spaghetti for dinner and now am getting ready for bed.
On the Organ, I worked on BWV 623 for the Secrets of Organ playing contest for this week. I also worked on the C major and F major Little Preludes and Fugues. to use in church recordings later this month. I will try to record one each day for the next couple days. I finished my practice with work on Vierne's Finale from the First Symphony.

This is a lovely Prelude and should be heard more often. One of Bach's masterpieces forgotten and overshadowed!
Looks like this quarantine is going to help institutions to do much work online even after the virus is over. Enjoyed watching you practice.
