Iguana for Dinner???

in #food8 years ago

I have lived in Florida all my life and have seen the Iguana population explode with these vegan reptiles. They are every freaking where, hanging out in trees and chillin in grassy areas near canals and rivers. But for the record for those who are scared of them and think that as soon as the seen you they are going to chase you down and eat you, there harmless to humans if you leave them alone. They dont eat meat and they dont chase humans even though look like baby dragons. The only way they could injure you is if yo got out of your way to harass it. For example, I had a bad ass cousin that loved wildlife try to catch near the bank of a river. He sunk up on him and grabbed him and it whipped the hell out of his leg with his tail and drew blood. I know another guy who feeds them and they are used to seeing him. Well one day the iguana reached in too far and grabbed his finger. It cut him real bad because they do have very sharp serrated teeth.

This is the culprit that approaches people near my house for food. Hes cool but he likes to sneak up on you though.

Now I know this sounds wired but for years I heard of people eating this ugly reptile. Even posted it on mt facebook page and people sarted saying how good they taste. I don't know man. Im country and all but I dont know about this one. I mean I would try anything once but this one might be the last. lol

Any of yal ever tasted Iguana before? What are your thoughts?

This is some footage of people preparing it.

Maybe I'll make a recipe post for Iguana. It will have to be a small dish

have you taste it before?

No, I assume it is similar to snake however

does it taste like chicken?

I heard this was catching on down there.
It is a better way to control the population than just killing them.

I'll let you know if I'm ever in the area, and we can try some fishing and iguana hunting.
