I bought a Cryptokitty but it wasn't a great experience.

I thought $30 would do it. It's only a virtual cat after all.

How wrong I was. I have spent hours today wasting my time on the Cryptokitty marketplace trying to buy two kitties so I could have little virtual kitty babies but instead, I've ended up with an average at best kitty that I cannot even afford to sire.

I might have been able to afford to buy two kitties if I hadn't wasted quite a bit of Ether on fees for failed transactions.

Here's the transaction history of my Metamask wallet for tonight. Notice that there has only been one successful transaction and that was when I took ownership of my Cryptokitty.

I'm glad I am only using Ether converted from BTG that I got for free otherwise I would be pissed off.

As you can see, I have around $5 US and I thought I might be able to rent out my kitty for siring so I filled in the form and submitted the request but the transaction ran out of gas, my request failed but the contract execution was completed according to Etherscan so I still had to pay $3.59 fee.

I'm waiting for a bit more ETH to arrive from Bitbay but due to the congestion on the ETH network and the high fees, it isn't even being accepted.

What a pile of shit.

Here's a link to my Kitty in case anyone is interested.

Edited - I didn't realise you could change the Kitty name.

That's the reason you're pissed off!? 😂
Sighs

Ethereum is getting bashed a lot for this reason, but at the same time this is new technology, and it's going to require a lot of iterations to improve. Failure is the first step.

I appreciate all the developers building applications such as CryptoKitties, in the same way that I appreciate Steem.

In the end, I really care about Blockchain taking off. I understand your frustration though, for this reason I'd probably not attempt to use CryptoKitties either. Thanks for the heads up :)

The fees are to high at the moment. 3-6 doller for an 20 doller transaction is so high!
But it is a very good step!
