There’s A Reason Graphics Are So Important In Social Media Videos… Here It Is!
Open up any social media newsfeed these days, and you’ll likely see a huge amount of graphics and videos, something that you would not have seen just a few short years ago. Clearly, the market is changing. The latest research from Twitter and LinkedIn reveals some interesting facts about this new phenomenon.
Twitter’s annual Online Video Playbook was a particularly interesting piece of research, as it revealed what the platform had discovered got the most attention. The results might not be tht surprisingbut are worth bearing in mind next tim you sit down to make a video for the platform.
Firstly, prominent branding in the first few seconds happened in every video, and the most successful had captions – not for the deaf, but for people watching mobile with the sound of. It’s also important to include a face in the first few frames – for some reason, this increases the chance people will watch the rest. Live video can also dramatically improve views and brand favour, as can promoting videos.
All in all, this is quite a comprehensive list of bonuses that having a video can give you. For instance, having your branding appear immediately is a great way not just to engage your audience, but also remind them who you are. Remember, they are scrolling to the next content, so it’s important to grab their attention ASAP.
In other words, be brash and bold with your motion graphics, but be quick to get to the main point of your video. Think of the initial branding as a splash screen that grabs the eye and gets people’s attention for that first split second – the rest will follow!
