Why Your Content Marketing Isn’t Working
Everyone is content marketing today – think 95% of business, of which you are one. However, it’s not as simple as throwing up some content and seeing what will stick: that’s a surefire way to ensure that you’re more likely to fail than succeed.
It might have worked in the past when there was less competition, but in an era when there is so much, it’s not a wise move as more proficient competition will come and drown you out effortlessly. In short, you need a plan, and one that marks out exactly what you want your content to achieve, and how it is going to get you from here to there.
It’s also surprising how many people produce a blog post then never promote it on social media. With the billions of people on social media monthly, this is a move that guarantees your content simply won’t hit the heights it ought to: after all, someone else who took that extra step did, and got the glory.
However, the worst sin is definitely the content itself – when it’s bad. Whether you hired a bad writer, or you have no idea what you’re writing about, or it’s simply dull to read, if it’s bad, nobody will want to read it and it will reflect badly on your business at large.
These are just a few reasons why your content marketing strategy might be flopping – another might be that your expectations are simply unrealistic! They’re also the most common. If your content marketing isn’t doing the job that you had hoped, then it’s vital that you step back and rethink your strategy – then realign it with what you truly want to achieve.
