How I Make My Own Natural, Home-Made COUGH SYRUP.

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

Today I made my own cough syrup for the first time. @Joordanzzz got sick today, so I decided to check my absolute favorite essential oil book "The Essential Life" for some oils to soothe a sore throat.

But I found something better, which actually consisted of some of the same ingredients and that was a cough syrup, which actually tasted really good and very soothing for @Joordanzzz throat.

Super easy, fast and cheap to make and the best part is that it consists of plant based, natural, organic ingredients.

HOMEMADE COUGH SYRUP

1/2 Cup Honey
8 Drops Peppermint
8 Drops Lemon
8 Drops Lavender
8 Drops Frankincense
3 Drops Clove
3 Drops Wild Orange
1 Drop Cinnamon

Mix and take 1 teaspoon every three hours as needed.

Hope you enjoyed the video and hope you will be able to try this awesome syrup, which has really helped Jordan along with diffusing some OnGuard blend with Breathe blend every night and applying oils on the bottom of his feet and his chest.

Hope that you enjoyed the video and if you would like to learn more about essential oils and how I use them and which ones I use, you can check my FB page Earths Gift or if you would like to check what doTERRA is all about and their products and how you can get them in your home, you can check my Website. I am here to help you if you have any questions or would like to get these oils into your home.

You can check out all about doTERRA essential oils here in Source to You and what is behind the bottle/science behind the bottle.

Would love to hear about your natural remedies you use in your home. Have a wonderful weekend, my dear friends and God Bless!

Love @joalvarez.

Did you ever try to drink Majoram tea with honey? It is great to sooth the cough too.

My mom used to give me Majoram tea with honey and lemon when I was younger. I will definitely have to get some more.
Thank you for the reminder @ewkaw

Yeaaa it is an old trick. I used to hate it... now I actually do enjoy the taste :)

Thanks for sharing this with us. Please let us know how the natural medicine works.

I recently read that cough syrup does not necessarily work, it's merely a money making thing but I'm talking about the store bought ones here.

I am having a cough right now, for a week or so, after having had a cold ( a nose full of snot ) before.

I usually use herbs ( like fresh ginger, cinnamon, cardomom ), lemonjuice and honey and I also tried salt and hot water to rinse my throat with. It seems to have little effect on my throat though. Luckily, it's not hurting, just ticklish.

I don't have any essential oils at home but if this works, I'm very much interested, also because there's so much more you can do with those oils.

Um abraço desde Portugal,

Vincent

I don't really know if cough syrups really work and that is what my doctor said to me to, that they are really just useless so I stopped buying them.
When I turned to natural medicine like the essential oils, I don't imagine ever not having them, because they trully are amazing in every way, but the trick is to be really consistent with them and when we are not, we think they don't work. And another very if not the most important thing you really have to research and choose the right kind of oils that you can trust, which are tested for their purity, and potency and that they are free from fillers or artificial ingredients and free of harmful contaminants. 85% of essential oils on the market right now are not pure and most of all not safe to use and don't have any health benefits because they are not harvested, sourced and distilled and gone through vigourous testing in the proper way in order to get the natural chemistry of the oils and its amazing benefits and that is why I use doTERRA's oils which really have worked for me.

The syrup I made works pretty good, the only problem was that (my other son and I got sick too afterward) and we were not very consistent drinking this syrop at least 3 -4 times a day, but when I drank it, it really calmed down my cough and my throat.
You are absolutely right, you can do so much with these oils and I use them for cleaning, for my skin, my hair, cooking, cleaning the air in my home, for sleep, for energy for headaches and pains and anything you can think of.
The reason I love the oils is because they are 50-70 times more concentrated then herb or fruit/plant itself. which loose up to 90% of their healing nutrients and oxygen molecules and essential oils don't

Please let me know @vincentnijman if you have any more questions.
