The Painted Horses, Equinology & Equine Yoga! 🐴

in #story7 years ago (edited)

Several years ago in Australia an equestrian friend of mine decided to improve her equine skills and began to study equinology. Having worked around horses since she was a child she applied herself and excelled. Equinology is body work with horses and includes massage, stretching and other forms of equine therapy. Some very good teachers travel the world training these techniques.

I was very impressed with what my friend was learning and began to use her for therapy on my own horses. The depth of knowledge she was learning was much better than many trainers I met in the racing industry. I met a lot of trainers who seemed to have very little understanding of the biological workings of a horse. I saw many instances of debilitating injury caused by trainers failing to spot injuries or incorrectly treating them.

One of the coolest aspects of my friend's equinology course was studying the workings of the horse by "painting" the layers of the horses anatomy onto the horse with special non toxic chalk. The results were truly living art! 😉 Here are some photos for you but remember it looks much better when the horse is actually moving! Enjoy!

Amazing post and a great idea by your friend. As a visual learner I think this is a great idea, she needs to get it out there to help other learn.

As for the horse yoga cracking, looks like it really enjoying it :)

Yes the horse looks so happy! UPvoted! =)

I am in awe of the beauty of those paintings. Do the equinologists learn how to paint or do they bring in artists? It's just gorgeous. And I can see how educational it can be! Love, love, love!

Thanks for the comment! It's awesome isn't it! They have to learn how to do it themselves and that is part of their test! So cool! Followd and UPvoted! 😃

oh, you never learn, I think it's great that there is yoga for animals, because what is good for humans can not harm the animal ...

this kind of remind me of the fishes which was transparent and could see the bones that i used to see when i was a kid.
