MORE LOGS IN THE GROUND AND WORK STARTS ON THE PERMANENT SPRING RESERVOIR (HOMESTEAD UPDATE)

THINGS ARE MOVING ALONG NICELY

We managed to get 800 pounds(363kg) of concrete carried to the homestead, two more poles in the ground, three more holes got concrete pads poured in their bottoms, and we began work to make a permanent reservoir at the spring.

HARDER THAN I THOUGHT

Installing the logs into the holes is insanely difficult. Not only are some of them extremely heavy (probably 1000 pounds or about 450kg) but balancing them as they are lifted is just as much a challenge. But today with help from one of my best friends, Duane, we were able to get the first corner (heavy) log lifted into a hole...and did it feel good to see it happen!

We now have a total of four logs in the ground and I'm really proud of how quickly it's starting to move along. We will be putting a total of thirty logs in...so we do have a way to go. But of those thirty, half or so of them are small enough I believe I can do them by myself. But for now, this is what we have...

TIME FOR A BREAK FROM THE HARD WORK

After all the pulling and lifting I needed a break, so I decided to work on the spring a bit. I've been needing to build a dam so we could have a small reservoir. It will help increase the water flow out of our spring pipe. It's nice and cool back by the spring as it is deep in the woods. The water is also really cold. And since the work needing done there is definitely light duty... I was ready for it!!!

A SHORT WALKTHROUGH VIDEO

Check out this video below for a quick walk through of the homestead, from the progress on the house to a short walk back to our spring to see the progress we've made there.

Thanks for coming along, I hope I wasn't too boring.😝 As always, thanks to all our supporters. Your love and kindness keep us going every day.
