Simple Life
Your life matters,
When it does not.
Maybe you just make pictures,
Or sing songs;
Maybe you’re just that guy
With a talent for poems.
But everyone wants to elevate that
Turn it into something else.
But I don’t want to be
That guy on TV—
I’d feel I was somebody else
When I’m nobody but myself;
But at least
I’m not searching
For my own voice...
I don’t mind being shut up
In my circle of flesh
Where nobody thinks
I’ve something to say
Because they all know me
And I’m not strange;
Just a neighbour
A familiar face,
Someone you wave at
When you pass his place.
