One Picture And One Story Week #32 || Moments With My Great Grand Mother

I always have nostalgic feelings whenever I travel to meet my great grandmother. The picture above shows how fast life can be.
On a sunny Sunday in August in the late 90s, the news of my birth brought joy to everyone. Soon I was taken to the village and shown to my grandparents and great-grand parents. They were very very happy and they rejoiced. Now that is not the main story here.

The story I am about to tell us is about my relationship with this woman and how life could be really fast.

This is my Great Grand Mother and she was the one who carried me and took care of me in the village. She is a disciplinarian and a wonderful woman, she was always full of strength and energy. She was industrious and hardworking. When I was a baby, I used to go to her house with my Mother and she gave me biscuits and other snacks I wanted. I felt her love even from a tender age. She always made sure I didn't cry. She always made sure I felt comfortable on her laps. She will wean me until I sleep, she will make sure I wasn't disturbed. My mom told me she once weaved my once grown hair, she'd make sure I looked handsome too.

Whenever I sit back and remember this woman, sometimes I have this tears of Joy because I felt her love and happiness radiating all over me.
Well not long, she traveled to the US to stay with her family. A vacation that took more than 5 years. My once lovely great grand Ma wasn't around anymore. She was gone and I always hoped if I could see her again. Well she came back from abroad around 2010 and I was very happy to see her again. She brought a lot of goodies for me and she was still energetic like she was some years back.

I didn't travel to the village again, and I haven't seen her for some years now. Yesterday I had the opportunity to see her again. Guess where I saw her....In the farm, cultivating maize. When she saw me, she screamed for joy, shouting my name. I was really happy to see her being very strong like she was.

Life could be very fast, life can change us from being very young and strong to being very fragile and weak. When she hugged me, I could feel this happiness like I met someone I had missed for a long time. I was happy that I have at least seen her face again. She is a wonderful woman, we talked at length yesterday and she didn't stop but give me food to eat, she said I must eat her food before going back.

We had a lovely time together, oh my great grandmother has grown very old.. But she was still very strong and healthy. I couldn't imagine her being in the farm at this age but here she was cultivating a large hectare of land.

I am happy to have met her again yesterday.
This is a story about my great grandmother and how fast life has been for her.
