Never figured out how hard it is to leave someone or people you have gotten so used to. I had always imagined why teachers taught for years even with little salary compared to other professions but still can't leave.

Looks like I am about getting a first-hand experience. Now this is my story... let's take a dive right in:

On the 6th day of January 2022, I decided to give back to my society by teaching Mathematics in a school in my locality. I was a fresh undergraduate who had a 'degree in view'. So while waiting, I had to take the teaching job at least to pass knowledge and also keep my mind fresh academically wise.

I had in mind to stay for just a year, of which I had told the management of the school and there was an agreement in place. My first day in class was quite a lovely one...I was introduced to the pupils and I had a great time with some colleagues. It was a great first day at work.

I enjoyed teaching the kids and they loved the way I taught them too. I tried knowing the names of almost all the kids in 2 months.. There were 156 by the time and knowing their name was the first steps in getting close to them.

Staying for 6 months changed my mindset about children altogether.I saw how fragile and lovely they are...I could see the sweetness in their hearts. I also met challenging kids who were actually very stubborn and I had to help.

I got to discover that teaching surpasses just being in the classrooms, the kids watch everything we do, say and even how we dress.
They want to imitate their teachers, they want to do what they say. After one year, I couldn't go anymore. Leaving them was hard.

I got so attached to them that It was hard to say good-bye. I saw kids move from grade one to grade two and same for other classes. Well I decided to stay another year and that was my greatest undoing (lol). I got more attached to them. I met them as babes and watch them grow into young teens. We had good laughs together, learnt, worked together also.

These kids have been really close to my heart. So I decided to give them another year making it three years. So this year, I decided it was time to leave them.

This term is my last term with them and I get emotional whenever they tell me that they want me to always teach them. I can't tell them I am leaving. It will look like I am breaking their hearts. Like I have betrayed them.

I have already made the decision but how to tell them about it is the problem.
I actually made sure I enjoyed this term with them. We danced together, took a lot of pictures. The picture above is after a class we had, they didn't know I was keeping memories so when I leave, I can always look back. To them, they are just taking pictures with their mathematics teacher.

I didn't know this is how hard it is to move on from something you really do love.

This is my story...three years in and all I have to do is say Goodbye!!

I invite @imohmitch, @davidmarkgeorge and @onlyonefave to participate in this contest.
