Middle Earth: Shadow of War Playthrough [part 5]
Part 5 of our Middle Earth: Shadow of War playthrough picks up sometime after the events in part 4. After facing down Sauron’s champions in the Coliseum you and Idril were able to sneak into an enemy camp and rescue her father, Castamir, the General of Minas Ithil. He wasn’t happy she risked her life to save him but she’d never turn her back on him, no matter the cost. After returning him to the keep you asked to use the Palantir but still he denied your request. Idril has vowed to discover its location and let you use it to aid in the fight against the Dark Lord.

A City Lost
With Minas Ithil on the verge of collapse you return to Shelob. She asks you what you’re willing to sacrifice in trade for another vision. You don’t answer but she knows the answer, everything, your soul. You tell her you have to know. She tells you there’s barely any soul left but she grant’s you the vision anyway. The vision depicts Minas Ithil engulfed in green flames as a dragon screams through the skies above. You also see Castamir, Idril’s father and General of Minas Ithil. It is he who spies for Sauron. You see him meeting with the messenger and even worse you see him giving the Palantir to the Witch King. With a new found fervor in your heart you travel back to Minas Ithil to save the Palantir as Minas Ithil is set to fall.
As you arrive in Minas Ithil you find Baranor making final preperations but before you can find Castamir A Drake screams out and a green ball of flame smashes into the keep gate. The Witch King and his army are here. You and Baranor fight valiantly to defend the courtyard waiting for reinforcements but it’s all in vein, both you and Baranor know it. You yell to him the city is lost save your people and he orders his men to retreat. But you have other plans. You must reach Castamir before he can hand over the Palantir.
A Deal Sealed with Blood
Idril confronts her father and tells him he’s betrayed them. He says he would sacrifice all of Gondor to save her. She asks what of our people what of our honor. He tells her there is no honor in death. Before you can take the Palantir The Witch King and his Ring Wraiths the Nazghul appear. He demands what was promised to him and Castamir kneels before him. He holds out the Palantir and asks you will hold to our bargain, my daughters freedom? The witch King takes the Palantir and says she is free to die with her people. He then turns and kills Castamir. Idril rages and begins to charge. You stop her and tell her to leave as you unsheathe your sword and prepare to battle the Nazghul.
The Nazghul are fearsome foes but with Celebrimbor and his new ring of power you are able to banish them. One by one you send them back to Sauron. As the last Ring Wraith is banished you attack the Witch King. But he is too powerful. He forces you to your knees and uses his dark magic to dominate you. He intends on making you one of Sauron’s minions. The color begins draining from your face and your eyes begin to glow fiery red but before the spell is completed a mysterious ally jumps into action and cuts off his spectral arm. But it’s no use, it reforms in mere moments. As he turns his gaze towards her she casts a powerful barrier of light stopping him long enough for her to plunge her sword through your chest. You will not claim him today she says as she quickly retreats.
Unlikely Allies
You awaken sometime later in one of Celebrimbor’s barrows. The mysterious stranger is at your side sharpening her blade. You killed me, you say. And yet you live again she smirks. What is that like, to die and live again? Do you feel pain? Do you suffer. What of the city, you ask, the Palantir? The Nazghul have taken both. They belong to the Dark Lord now. Celebrimbor looks at her hand and says she wields the light of Galadriel. With it we can recover the ring. She turns to Celebrimbor and says your rings are the cause of all this Elf lord. Both you and he are stunned. No mortal aside from you has ever seen him. You ask who she is and she tells you her name is Eltariel and she’s the Blade of Galadriel.
Celebrimbor asks since when does Galadriel work with assassins. Great threats make for unlikely alliances, Eltariel muses, you know this better than most. She asks you about the ring. You tell her we crafted it to defeat Sauron but it was lost to the great spider Shelob. The Nazghul will be drawn to it she tells you. Celebrimbor says they cannot lose it to the Dark Lord. He demands the light of Galadriel but she refuses. The light of Galadriel will protect us but it will not leave my side. We must move quickly you tell her. She just smiles and says try to keep up.
Save the Spider
As you approach Shelob’s lair you can see the green smoke of Ring Wraiths streaming by as they descend upon Shelob. You ask Celebrimbor if the Nazghul can defeat one as great as Shelob especially since she has the new ring. Together they wield a terrible power, he says, but powerful as my ring is the Nazghul wield rings of their own. Only the light of Galadriel will protect us he claims. As you enter Shelobs lair you find her cornered in her cave surrounded by Nazghul. She’s in trouble. But Eltariel calls forth the light of Galadriel and slams her fist into the ground. A shockwave of white light sends the Nazghul away and Shelob falls to her knees exhausted.
You approach Shelob and reach out your hand to help her. She grasps your hand and grants you one last vision, a vision in which you see yourself standing atop a tall tower with a legion of soldiers beneath you. You see the Witch King fall and you see Sauron on his knees handing over a ring of power. As the vison ends Shelob holds out her hand. In her plam the ring she took. She offers it back. Why, why now, you ask her? She says sacrifices must be made. You take the ring and she tells you to go and build your army. The path will be clear she says.
The New Ring
Eltariel looks at you and says you must destroy this ring. Celebrimbor scoffs and says it belongs to us. Your legend holds to Celebrimbor she replies. This ring is different. We can use it to defeat Sauron you insist. She turns to you and says I strike down men corrupted by these rings do not become one of them. You tell her that when the time comes I will do what is needed. Perhaps she says. Get as far as here as you can. The Ring Wraiths will return. They always do. Before she leaves she looks at you and says our paths will cross again.
With the ring back in your possession you and Celebrimbor head to the lush and forested province of Nurnen on the coast of Mordor. Here you intend on building your army from the orcs in Sauron’s army. The ring allows you to dominate their minds and force them to serve under your command. One by one you stalk the archers in the area and twist their minds with the help of the ring. As a first test you command them to strike out against their former allies. Brothers, commanders, friends, they all turn against one another. Celebrimbor’s ring is powerful. With it you will certainly be able to build a formidable army loyal only to you.

Hve to play this 😶
It's a really good game. I would recommend it. Be prepared for a really big game. I just finished it the other day and when you add in all the sidequests and the amount of time you can get lost in the Nemesis system there are dozens of hours of gameplay to be had :)
This game looks super fun!
It's definitely fun but it can get really frustrating when the randomly generated bosses get a handful of really annoying abilities that make them basically super bosses.
Nice post..i love your pictures. I have to check out the previous parts.
Thanks :)
Welcome.
