Sup Steem Punks & Steem Princesses!

I want to announce that I am bringing back a series that I once did exclusively on Steemit!

That's right! I am bringing back the "How To Play Guitar" series that I used to run on Steemit!
I am not really sure why I got rid of the series in the first place, it was really fun to do and I am very excited!

Bob Marley - Redemption song

Difficulty: Easy

This is a classic in my eyes. If you havent heard this song I suggest you change you life hahah because you are missing out. This song was written by the great Bob Marley, but dont be mistaken. It is not your typical reggae style music. This song was much more personal. An acoustic song that Bob did solo. I find this song easy on the ears and extremely empowering to listen to. Lets jump into this lesson! First off take a listen to the actual track here:

As you can hear the song starts with a simple acoustic lead. Then it runs into a strumming pattern. It runs really smooth. This song is in the key of GMaj and stays relatively steady until we hit our bridge part. Lets take a look at some tabs and go further into analysis. Check out the tabs here:

If you do not know how to read guitar tabs, there are plenty of beginners guides out there. It is a really easy way to dodge having to learn sheet music, and is fully necessary for your progression as a guitar player. I suggest you take a few hours out of your day and learn this concept. Here is a beginners guide to reading tabs :

The song hits the bridge part and it slides smoothly into an instrumental guitar part. It goes to the Eminor chord and this is what is known in music as the relative minor chord. Notice how it changes the emotion and feeling of the entire song for the bridge and easily blends right back into that major chorus.
The song might be a challenge for a brand new guitar player to sing and play at the same time. I would suggest trying to slow down the tempo a good bit and always practice to a metronome at least once a day.

Check out this acoustic closeup of the song. This will help you find out where you will make your changes and how the chord progressions actually look. Check that out here:

This song shouldnt take any time to learn at all. This is one that I would certainly recommend to learn when you are first starting to learn the guitar. It might take some time, but it is a good transition into learning how to sing as well. Make sure you practice. If you practice ANY instrument at 20 mins per day... 3 months later you will be VERY much more comfortable with that instrument , especially if you follow this guide. Go pick up your guitar and start learning now! I hope this lesson helped you out!

This is a new series exclusive to steemit! If you enjoyed, please leave an upvote and I will see you on the next episode!
