Today I want to talk a little bit about one of the largest award shows of the year. The Grammy awards! Also know as the Recording academy.

If you do not already know, the Grammys is an award show that comes around yearly showcasing the years best performing, recording, and producing artists. As a local musician this may seem far away from you, but in all actuality you SHOULD be a grammy member now. Theres tons of benefits people dont talk about beyond the silly award show at the end of the year.

1.Private Invites

You will get a ton of private invites to all kinds of amazing grammy parties. I personally have gone to sound checks for some of my favorite artists, watched platinum artists recording techniques, met celebrities at free meetups. This all is a large benefit for your career in the sense that you can use the celebrities as your personal publicity stunts and you learn a lot about being in the environment that you would like to dominate

2.Industry Networking

You will meet a ton of people at meetups and parties. These people include your "Behind the scenes" people who will help your career DRASTICALLY. You might meet your next personal manager or record label scout at these places, so its a good idea to network network network.

3.Resources

The Grammys sends a ton of resources in the form of email as well as the resources you will gain from meetings and meetups. I learned all sorts of things about raising my bands popularity and using some tools that are private to the industry. People dont like sharing secrets, but they might with a fellow grammy member!

4.The big win

Of course the biggest benefit is having you name voted for on the Grammy awards ballot. Even if you do not win, it is good publicity within the corporate entertainment world to be seen on this ballot. If you end up winning, Welcome to history being made! You will gain a nice boost in your album sales from now on ;)

You might be asking how to sign up and become a Grammy member

It is relatively easy. You can register online. The requirements are simple.

1. You must have 6 songs either on Physical Distribution(Pressed cds with a barcode being sold in a store) or 12 songs on digital distribution(This is the easy way. 12 songs sold on Itunes).
2. You must pay a voting membership fee of about $100.
   Once your registration goes through you are now official a voting Grammy member. This means you can vote on who wins a grammy and people can vote on you to win! Now the goal is to meet as many grammy members as possible and start gaining votes! I would suggest going to some of the events or parties they host and making some friends!
