Isaiah said to King Ahaz, Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that for you to try the patience of my God also? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign. Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son and shall call His name Immanuel (Isaiah 7 : 13 -14)

It's amazing how the Lord God worked His plan of redemption out. He had His Purpose and in it is the salvation of the human race. He has succeeded in setting a people for Himself, the Israel, among the peoples and nations of the world, and now among them He set His eyes on one man and his family line, that is David. And to him went forth series of scriptural prophecies for a Child that will be born to him. A virgin, to be precise, a 'young woman' would "encompass a Man -Child", or would conceive a Child, and be given a name Immanuel. This is a sign the Jewish people knew very well. That the Man - Child, or the Messiah would be of the house and lineage of David. But the scriptures foretold this Child would be more than just any ordinary child. Therefore He is born as a child, but He is given to us as a Son (of God) - for His going forth or His beginning is from eternity. Isaiah the prophet, prophesied and affirmed this to us.
"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us, a Son is given. And the dominion will be upon His shoulder and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His rule and of peace, there will be no end. Upon the throne of David and over his kingdom to order it and to establish it with justice and righteousness, from that time forward even forever. The zeal of the of Hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9: 6 -7). Such a child's birth would require something more than a natural generation or birth. It would require a supernatural sign and conception. And Jewish people over the years have waited for the fulfilment of these scriptural prophecies. Unfortunately, most of Jewish people missed the fulfilment of these Scriptures and therefore the birth of their long awaited Messiah.

For us, it's a blessed moment, as we are born at such opportune time as this to know it and to celebrate it to the glory of God.
So as we come to Christmas, let us celebrate it with understanding and knowledge, not in ignorance and sensuality. And remember to thank God for the opportunity to know that the Christ Child was born in line with scriptural prophecies for you. And may the blessing of knowing Him fill your life and home this season in Jesus name. Amen
