HAPPY NEVER AFTER

It is a beautiful thing to fall in love, to give your entire existence to another person, leaving your soul bare for her to see. When I speak of love, I don’t mean the bastardized rubbish that runs rampart through the lives of youths. When I speak of love I mean the kind that we grew up watching in movies. An 80’s film kind of love.

It is a peculiar thing, falling in love. It is a slow process that takes time. That love-at-first-sight thing is cow dung. It’s impossible to truly fall in love with a person when all you can see is her body. True love starts small and is almost always ignored in the beginning. Then the signs start popping up but most times we find excuses to hide the way we feel.

She walks into the room and you skip a heartbeat.
Pretty girls will do that to any guy.

The mere thought of her puts a smile on your face.
You smile whenever you remember friends, nothing new.

Then one day you realize just how much of yourself you’ve unwittingly given to her and you also realize that you don’t want it back. You put her before you without even realizing it. She becomes more important to you than you. Unknowingly, you have made her your deity and you worship her in all her glory. Her happiness becomes yours and you will do anything to please her. She is the sun and her light is what your soul has been craving all your life.

But alas, nothing lasts forever…

So what happens when the sun sets eternally? What happens when the goddess abandons her priest?

DARKNESS REIGNS

It is a beautiful thing to fall in love and I don’t mean the rubbish of the 21st century. It is a beautiful thing to fall in love but it is a terrible thing when that love dies.

I am breaking. I can feel a bitter storm churning and growing inside me and I fear what I will become when it’s at its peak. I fear I will become the monsters I once detested. I am breaking inside and I fear I won’t have the strength to fix myself. I hope I do. I am sorry our story will not be a happy one. I am sorry for the pain you will feel when there is no longer an ”us”. But our end is still far off, so let us ignore the future and bathe in the warm light of the present.
