Give Your Eyes A Break

Many of us can spend 6 or 7 hours in front of a television or a computer, playing online games or doing some professional works. Whatever our reason may be, we still end up with tired eyes and headaches.

Our eyes are very important so we need to take care of them. As the famous line says; "The eyes are the windows to our soul". We can see the things around us because of our eyes and we let others know how we feel through our eyes.

Reading, writing, using a computer, watching TV or staring at a small
screen on a phone can all make your eyes feel dry and tired. Some
research suggests that too much close work can even lead to short
sightedness (myopia [say: my-oh-pee-a]), which means that you can
only see things clearly when you are up close to them.

When I was still schooling, I used to lie down in bed while studying allowing only a small amount of light. So I had to position the notebook close to my eyes. Today, I am wearing my eyeglasses because I cannot see afar. In short, I am nearsighted. Guess this is what I get for not listening to my parent's advise then.

Just like any other muscles, our eyes also need to rest. Here are some ways of keeping our eyes healthy;

Lights on

Turn the lights on when it's getting dark for better vision, especially if you are reading. Students should keep this in mind. It's still best to study with your eyes healthy.

Do Some Eye Exercise

Relax your eyes by blinking every second. This helps provide moisture to the eyes to prevent it from drying.

Close and Cover Your Eyes

Close your eyes for about five minutes and cover it with a soft material to block light.

Meir Schneider, PhD, the eye expert who has cured himself of
congenital blindness, has this to say about relaxing the eyes, “The
relaxation also has an important psychological effect: it teaches the
brain that the eyes do not always have to strain, that they can
function better and more comfortably through relaxation than through
stress.”

Absolutely true! Relaxing the eyes is an important part of relaxing as a being :). In Ayurveda they have a special eye cleansing and cooling technique. With a small cup to place over the eyes and rinse them. The idea is that the eyes build up heat and burning sensation when overused, especially when looking at screens a lot. Cooling them is an important part of relaxing.

Can I give you a tip? Typically, if I see a post where the cover image is a copywrited stock image, I'll expect a lower quality of the post. I'd avoid copywrited stock images like the shutterstock one you've used for this post, to express higher quality. Good luck with your blog!!

Thank you for the tip @amritadeva. I'll take that in mind.
