Artificial intelligence is among us

The 21st century presents a challenge for mankind, since much of what was once science fiction has now become reality thanks to the advance of technology, and on a path that has bifurcated between genetic experimentation and the creation of artificial intelligence, he must adjust his modus vivendis to changes that daily impact the synergy of societies and provoke confrontations and projections that sometimes sound catastrophic.

It is perhaps the development of Artificial Intelligence that causes most concern to the common mortal, since it is seen as a competition of man himself, thanks to media campaigns that only show the tip of the iceberg of its benefits or detriments.

Human capacities for biological reasons have a limit and although there is a group of scientists and geneticists devoted to the improvement of these, but the great central computer of man, called brain, remains as unknown as ever, because the more progress is made in discoveries more new things appear, so, taking advantage of that unlimited capacity, another group has been working on the creation of Artificial Intelligence, which is nothing more than the ability through processors that perform mathematical operations of a machine, generally called robots, to perform a specific task.

Since 1956 when this term was coined, several generations of "machines" have made possible advances impossible for human capacity and computing is one of them. What would today's world be without it? Would it be better?

Now, when we are bombarded about the danger of robots, we undoubtedly take advantage of the association of many books by Asimov, which talk about this, or apocalyptic movies like the Terminator saga. But is this possible? Will Artificial Intelligence be able to become independent of man?

The Sophia robot, capable of imitating and learning human gestures and performing analytical processing, has awakened hidden fears that beyond realities are unfounded, since, as Asimov himself stated in his famous work "The Bicentennial Man", to be human it is not only necessary to look like or do what humans do, but also to have consciousness, and so far it has not been possible to replicate this.

Artificial Intelligence has been part of our way of life for many decades and although for many it is considered disruptive, personally, I believe it is not, because it has managed to create better living conditions, but the deviations that may have occurred in terms of human behavior cannot be blamed on technology but on man's ability to limit himself.

If we go to the extreme and take Artificial Intelligence as competition in tasks and therefore in the loss of places of employment or spaces for human beings, we forget that the industrial and technological revolution would not have been possible without it, since it has been with us for longer than we have been alive and as in any active society when profound changes are made, roles are exchanged and it is very far that machines can have conscience.

Are we ready to adapt to Artificial Intelligence? Yes, we have already done so without realizing it. Isn't it already in all our homes, actions, objects and instruments among others?

hello @joseph1956,
I personally believe that the real danger is when artificial intelligence is combined with robotics, that is where they can represent a real danger just imagine a robot that can think and make their own decisions if you add to that that developed countries will surely give weapons is very likely to get out of control and end up hurting more than one person, for now do not represent a problem but only the future will tell if it was foolish to create an artificial intelligence or on the contrary it was a good decision.

Exactly what I'm thinking. It might become dangerous in years or decades to come. Why give a robot emotions to think, feel and make decisions on it's own, that's totally wrong. Well said @trabajosdelsiglo

Yes it is getting more real than before, it is no longer a matter of argument as to of we want artificial intelligence around us or not, it is already here and we basically just have no other option than to embrace it.

it is already here

Very true. I watched a youtube of smart house, damn!! It is so good to have a smart home, but a bit scary because what if it gets hacked, someone else has complete control over your own house.

Hello @joseph1956, Certainly the robot Sophia is one of the advances in AI that has surprised me the most, and I am sure that it will be able to go much further than what has been learned, the advances in this matter are countless and apparently do not have many limits marked in terms of scientific aspirations. it means.

Great post friend.

The future world is dependent on artificial intelligence and with the direction the world is heading to right now, I believe artificial intelligence is the next big thing in stock to be deployed

The future world is dependent on artificial intelligence

Definitely, the future will be flooded with AI doing everything which will make us humans lazier than ever, so it is not so great for humanity

We are moving in the future by the end of 2030 we will see AI is applicable in every fields from wars to manufacture. We need to ready for the revolution of the future.

We are moving in the future by the end of 2030

Why you mention that year?

I for one, I need AI to help reduce my daily workload but I'm skeptical about AI, why give them emotions, that's wrong, because they might takeover over some years or decades.

Thanks for this nice article @joseph1956
