Recently there has been an announcement from the folks at Open AI, the pioneer company in the creation of Artificial Intelligence tools, starting with chatGPT, has made public their new project that is currently in testing phase and this is Sora, their first video generation model, which, as they have announced, can generate videos up to 60 seconds long from textual indications.
This is part of a new, technological trend, which makes it more than evident that development continues apace.
The reality is that the advances in AI are really impressive. This technology already exists, to tell the truth for some years, because the generation of images from a prompt is not new, what it is, and it is here where this new development stands out is in the high quality of the videos, which are practically indistinguishable from what is a video captured from life itself or one created with this technology.
This is where we see the impressive progress of AI in the construction of realistic content. Here we enter a terrain that can lend itself to many things that are not exactly good. Although they as a company have made it clear that they have limited the ability of the technology to generate images of public figures, we are still entering a very delicate area.
I think we must be more and more attentive to everything that is coming, because if it is true that the development in question is incredibly interesting, the reality is that it can be dangerous if this technology is used improperly, because it can be used for manipulation, scams, among many things, beyond artistic or good purposes that could be given to it.
I find it extremely interesting what is happening in terms of development, and keeping up with technology is not easy, because every day something new comes out, but at least being aware of it is important.
