My favorite food - Venezuelan Gastronomy
In this third weekly writing challenge presented by @steemitblog in the framework of 100 days of steem, he asks us to talk about our favorite food.
Do not hesitate to participate, here is the link to get information on how to do it:
Arepas with scrambled eggs and Caraotas.
This is a very typical dish in Venezuela. The arepa is prepared and eaten in different Latin American countries, each saying that in their country they make the best, but in the end, each country has its own particularities.
Surely many Venezuelans when they see this dish can remember many things.
It particularly brings back specific memories of my childhood and adolescence. It was a dish that my grandparents used to prepare every time I went to visit them. And no matter how hard I try, it never stays the same as how I remember it, but it's still something I enjoy very much and it takes me directly to those moments sitting with them.
It's really something easy to prepare, it doesn't have a particular science or mystery.
In the case of the arepas, they are made with precooked corn flour, it comes already packed, simply mix it in a cup of water with a little salt, add the flour and knead it until you get a homogeneous dough, then give it the shape and take it to a frying pan where it cooks on both sides.
In the case of scrambled eggs, let's say there are variations in the preparation, however, it is enough to chop onion, fry in a pan with a little oil and then add the eggs and salt to taste. Mix it until it is ready, that is a matter of a few minutes. Of course, there are those who add chopped tomato, chili, I remember my grandparents would go out to the patio and take some basil leaves, for a different touch. But, it's up to each of us.
What takes more work are the caraotas, they are a little hard pimples, so you have to prepare them with time in advance, already have them ready. These are boiled for a long time until they are soft, then the seasonings are added, to give the flavor. *Usually onion, garlic, chili and coriander are used, and that is enough, however there are those who add marinade or cumin, chives.
Something I am proud of is the gastronomy of my country, it is very varied and the flavor is without a doubt very different from what I taste in the country where I currently receive...
This has been my participation in this writing challenge of this one, and it has certainly brought back fond memories.

Beautiful memories of our favorite dishes, for me, the arepa will always be the queen, my favorite. It is so versatile that you even eat it alone. Thank you for sharing these delights of our land, dear @josevas217. My support in the #toptres of today and a hug, dear friend.
