My Introduction to STEEMIT and my impression.

An introduction and recap to STEEMIT

Waking up at 8:30 am in the morning is a very daunting task . Especially on your Saturday, where the big word: Commitment, is a do or don't as it require a whole day of attention and brain juice to comprehend other buzz situations such as change, introductions, explanations and many why's.

Moving on, we have all heard of the buzz words of; Crypto-currency and block-chain, is very intriguing that indeed, despite knowing about it, reading news, looking at the examples of others, or even creating an account. It always involves a big chunk of your money being deposited or invested into the mining rigs, wallet and coin itself to be directly involved.

However, in my mind, the reason behind coming to this STEEMIT Bootcamp was because STEEMIT does not require you to invest in a capital or put yourself in a risky financial position. Similarly what do you have to lose but gain money with just your;

  1. Laptop/Pc
  2. Your phone number
  3. Registered and approved account
  4. Your brains, experiences and opinion to generate that content
  5. Your time

At the venue, and 2 flights of stairs, the place was spacious, and the hosts were very welcoming. Additionally, it was well air conditioned and it is a very clean and comfortable environment. Straight to the function room, with round tables and chairs. There is also projectors, good lighting and extensions to charge the laptop to get the Power flowing.

Overall, the lesson is detailed, helpful and inspiring. I find that STEEMIT is very transparent and fair as it keeps record and monitor activities on every user's transaction so nothing fishy goes about and that the numbers are traceable.

Similarly, I felt that there are some people who abuse the content creation to upvote (gives $) their own silly picture to earn SBD as a whale (minimum 100k STEEM Power) that literally pays themselves 80$ - 300$ with a random picture with zero content.

Though I do not blame whales that borrow and share their power (with interest) to help others and further their own wealth at no risk. It still encourages others to create good content but yet, it still boils down to the symbols of $, SBD and power. To me, It paints a realistic setting which is transparent, and it could really go anywhere, so long there is ambition, value and a direction forward.

My overall impression of STEEMIT is, yes beyond the grabs for fame, votes and power, I personally like it because it provides an opportunity for people to lend a hand creatively through words to direct the required attention and power to those who sincerely needs it. Hence, everyone can at anyone one point, help out passionately without having to really face personal financial risks or burden to those who are in need. Additionally, to those who dare to chase their ambition, to rise to the top, and to also raise other's along the way, I would say all the best and never forget your roots.

I would love to thank my mom @Patlu, the speaker @MaverickFoo , for inviting me,introducing and encouraging me to try Steemit, without it, I would guess it would be just another Facebook post, or rant that goes unnoticed, given we only usually share our information with only our friends, and who the heck reads random public posts of strangers right?

Sort:

Whales that upvote themselves aren't that different to people that spend lots of money on mining rigs and get lots of coins. They've made a big investment and you can't take your money out quickly when you power up. That might be why Steem doesn't seem to crash quite as hard as some other coins when the overall market is going down. Hope I haven't spoken too soon :)

Thank you for your honest and understanding comment. It does make sense indeed, and I do understand that anyone would want to get their own investment and capital back as soon as possible. Still, I only wonder where the line is 'crossed' or if there is ever a line in doing so.
Cheers and nice to meet you!
