One Picture And One Story Week #7
As I scroll through my phone I stumble upon a picture that brings back a flood of memories. it's a photo from my university days specifically from our rag day celebration. The joy and excitement that radiate from that picture are still palpable and I'm transported back to that unforgettable day
It all began weeks before the actual event, my friends and I including my other coursemates and close friends from other departments too started brainstorming ideas for our rag day outfits and how it will look like.
We wanted to create something that would stand out, something that would showcase our creativity and teamwork. after several meetings and discussions we finally settled on a theme "Madness in the Streets."
Early on the morning of the rag day I woke up feeling like a kid on Christmas, Smiles.... I quickly got dressed and headed to my friend Samuel's place where we had stored all our rag day costumes.
As we put on our outfits I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous we looked, we were a group of "mad" people dressed in colorful, outrageous costumes, ready to take on the streets.
As we made our way to the School campus we encountered students from other departments all dressed in their own unique rag day dress, Omg!!!, the atmosphere was electric with everyone laughing, joking and taking photos. It was a day when social norms were thrown out the window and everyone came together to have fun.
I and our group trekked a long distance from Ikpa Road to Nwaniba Road and back to Barracks Road, I'm not sure how far we walked but it was at least 3,000 meters.
Yet despite the distance I didn't feel any pain or tied, we were all too caught up in the excitement of the day enjoying each others company and the thrill of being part of something bigger than ourselves
As we walked, we sang, danced and made merry, hahahaha!!! the memory is displaying in my brain as I'm writing, just smiling.
we even stopped at different points to take photos and interact with other students, it was a day of pure joy a day when we forgot about our worries and simply lived in the moment.
Finally we returned to our campus exhausted but exhilarated, we gathered together sharing stories and reliving the highlights of the day, it was a moment of camaraderie a moment when we felt proud to be part of our prestigues university community "University of Uyo (uniuyo)" located in south region of Nigeria.
As I look back on that day I'm reminded of the importance of friendship and community, our rag day celebration was more than just a fun event.
It was a testament to the bonds we formed during our time here in uni even though we have all gone our separate homes, the memories of that day remain in my mind as a reminder of the joy and laughter we shared together in campus.
These pictures in my phone is more than just a memento, it's a reminder of the power of friendship and collaborration as it reminds me that even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty we can find joy and laughter in the simplest of things.
It's also a reminder that no matter where life takes us, the memories we create with our friends will still remain with us forever. .
Thanks you friends for making time to read my story, each of us have different stories and pictures related to them, so I'll use this opportunity to invite my friends to participate if the have any picture and story. @goodybest @duncan001 and @samuelnkenta, I'll be looking forward to reading your story.
