Introducing myself with an awful introduction.

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

I was referred to this site by my friend @noganoo, and since then, I've referred 2 of my own friends.

I'm currently still in school, and I'm planning to pursue economics/finance or computer science in the future.
I'm extremely interested in science, technology, and as well as finance, markets and trading.

I was introduced to bitcoin in early 2011, didn't do much with it until a few months later, that was when I started using it as payment processor. I remembered having a few coins, which I've lost.

All my interest in bitcoin died sometime when MtGox & SilkRoad had shutdown as there was a huge clusterfuck in the community and in the price (I've never had any coins in either). However, sometime around 2 years ago, I became interested in cryptocurrency again through altcoins such as Litecoin & Dogecoin. My mindset for these coins were that it was to decentralize cryptocurrency more than bitcoin already is, as in options for other coins. Later on, the interest had died again.

However, I am still up to date on blockchain technology and news sites on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I'm aware of ethereum's issues and the growth of steemit.
I think steemit is a great site and has a ton of potential. I've used reddit for the past 3-4 years and I understand content aggregation and voting. I understand the prime hours of submitting posts and I can hop onto what I believe is going to be popular. I think I can translate what I know about users and voting on reddit onto this site. The steemit platform is impressive and unique as it provides transparency with the voting and actions unlike reddit. I also really enjoy the idea of the weighted voting power, which gives a reason for users to publish and promote higher quality content to achieve a higher reputation, therefor, higher voting power. Much of the features on this site is what was missing from reddit, and I hope the site can learn from reddit and possibly compete with it in the near future.
