South American Saturday: Colourful Houses in Olinda, Brazil
In Olinda, every house has its own special colour! The reason for this is very rational: Before modern times, addresses were not referred to as something like "51 Main Street", but as "that yellow house next to the one with the purple-reddish touch". At some point, that became too complicated (just think of the poor postman!), but luckily the colours stayed.
