[ENG-SPN] An example of resilience / Un ejemplo de resiliencia

Undisturbed from the top of that clay watchtower that dominates one of the oldest and therefore most historic cities in that heart of Castilian Celtiberia, which is a community like Soria, the old Romanesque church sees the centuries pass with the same monotonous languor as those famous verses of the French poet, Verlaine, which were key and prelude to the invasion of Normandy, in one of the bloodiest wars of the last 20th century.

Through the arches of its harmonious porticoed gallery, time, which, in the end, is nothing more than a loop that always repeats the same algorithms, as far as human behavior is concerned, recreates, in the visitor's imagination, eras of heroism and barbarism, which, after all, differ little or nothing from those we live in today, where the mediocre always find shortcuts to place themselves, like eunuchs, in the courts of the most miserable tyrants. Therefore, from its perfect execution, its example of sovereign indifference, its numantine resilience, it is always an example to follow, its loneliness also being its strength. Qualities that, in the end, make good that old saying that says: rather dead than dragged through the mud.

Imperturbable desde la cima de esa arcillosa atalaya que domina una de las ciudades más longevas y por lo tanto, más históricas de ese corazón de la Celtiberia castellana, que es una comunidad como la de Soria, la vieja iglesia románica ve los siglos pasar con la misma monótona languidez que aquellos famosos versos del poeta francés, Verlaine, que fueron clave y preludio de la invasión de Normandía, en una de las guerras más sangrientas del pasado siglo XX.

A través de los arcos de su armónica galería porticada, el tiempo, que, en el fondo, no es sino un bucle que repite siempre los mismos algoritmos, en cuanto a conducta humana se refiere, recrea, en la imaginación del visitante, épocas de heroísmo y de barbarie, que, después de todo, poco o nada se diferencian de las que vivimos en la actualidad, donde los mediocres siempre encuentran atajos para situarse, cual eunucos, en las cortes de los más miserables tiranos. Por eso, desde su perfecta ejecución, su ejemplo de soberana indiferencia, su numantina resiliencia, siempre es un ejemplo a seguir, siendo, su soledad, además, su fortaleza. Cualidades, que, al final, hacen bueno aquel viejo refrán que dice: antes muerto que arrastrado por el fango.
