RE: Extra tough Christmas chess riddle (#69). / Knacknuss-Weihnachtsschachrätsel (#69).
Hello @jaki, I hope you are having a happy holiday with your family.
Does black really lose in 17 moves? After short castling I do not see how black escapes from the checkmate:
- O-O Kf7
- Rc8 b1=Q
- Kd1+ Bf2
- Rxf2#
3.. Ng4+ Bf4
4.. Nxe5+ Kf6
5.. d4 (Threatening checkmate on f8) Kf5
6.. g4+ Ke4
7.. Re1+ Kxd4
8.. Nf3+ Kd3
9.. Rc3#
:)
2.. Nd1+ Kg4
3.. Ne3+ Kg3
4.. Rf3#
Por
2.. Nd1+ Kg4
3.. Ne3+ Kh5
4.. Rc8 Any move, checkmate on h8
4. Rc8 g4 and black wins.
4.. g4+ Kh6
5.. Rc8 Kh7
6.. Rf8 checkmate is unstoppable on h8, White must avoid checks
6. Rf8 b1Q+
Continue, please! :)und jetzt gibt es 2 Möglichkeiten:
7.. Nf1 Qxf1+
8.. Kxf1 Qb1+
9.. Kg2 Qg1+
10.. Kxg1 Bf2+
11.. Kg2 Black doesn't have more checks to give
Btw.: happy Christmas days for you, too! :)
